I started taking pictures with an old screw thread leica in the '60s and haven't altered things much. I've read and enjoyed most of your photo books. You two are a great resource in the category of "National Treasures", Please keep on keeping on.

I have several of your books which I found invaluable. They have helped me set up my own darkroom and to improve the quality of the work I produce. That is when I produce some. I spend a lot of time making things rather than taking photographs. My latest purchase being a Ross 13" APO Process xpress lens which I have made a lens board and retaining ring for mounting to my Walker Titan SF camera. However, I do not have a shutter for the lens though I see from your book 'Medium and Large Format Photography' that you use a Thornton Pickard shutter. For me it is lens cap off, count, then lens cap on. I think I will have to make a shutter. Any advice or designs? There doesn't appear to be much information about these lenses anywhere on the web. Any pointers? Kind regards, Roger.

What excellent websites. Just what I expected, from your excellent books and your opinion column in AP. I also enjoy the mix of photography and motorcycling. I carry cameras on the bike in an ex-army bag lined with inch thick air conditioning duct anti vibration foam. I use the plastic rubble bags for waterproofing. They last for ages. When I carry a tripod on the back of the bike, it's in an old tent bag, to look like some ratty old tent poles. The home page is actually my bike clubs' site. Some of my photographs are there, though not very sharply reproduced, dammit.

I have enjoyed reading your books since I purchased The Lens Book about 10 years ago. I love your writing style. My goal is to be a freelance photographer and writer when I "semi-retire" in about eight years. This is my passion. I have been taking images since I purchased my first 35mm camera in 1983 (an Olympus OMG). I have been collecting Olympus 35mm camera bodies and Zuiko prime telephoto lenses in addition to building a databse of 35mm transparancies for stock photos. Again, I appreciate you sharing your knowledge. Keep up the good work. George

Had to tell you, Roger, that your quote in this weeks AP magazine "...They have to learn to take pictures, and stop worrying about being rich enough to buy another camera " ranks as one of the all time greats. I may even use it on my next wedding shoot ! Cheers, Chris.

Popped over from the RFF to see the site. Known as Fred over there (after the cat in my avatar), it seems to have stuck. I like the what I've seen so far in the site, interesting section on the bikes. I'll be checking back from time to time.
