Comments I got to know him in Los Angeles in 1962. He prayed over me a number of times. When I told him I was going to become a Cmaldolese Benedictine Monk at Immaculate Heart Hermitage in Big Sur he thought that was a mistake. I served his private Mass the last 3 days before leaving for Big Sur. On the last morning he told me "The Lord wants you to be a holy Camaldolese Priese". I have never been accepted as a candidate for the priesthood, but I completely accepted that.

Comments I had the grace and privilege of being cured of Hodgkin's Disease in December of 1970 through the prayers and blessings of Father Aloysius. He became a dear family friend - we have several letters from him and he used to telephone us when he was in Fatima, Portugal. We now have a daughter, Sister Bridget, in the convent there. My wife and I have nine children here and one in Heaven. Father asked us to name our son (the only boy in the family) after him, so his middle name is Ellacuria. What a blessing it has been, and continues to be, to have Father Aloysius in our lives!

Comments I first heard about Father Aloysius when i was in high school in the 1970s in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Several people, knowing of my desire for the priesthood, spoke to me about this holy man and introduced me to devotion to Saint Anthony Claret. Two of them said that they had experienced the power of his prayer at a distance and used relic crucifixes of St. Anthony Claret blessed by Father Aloysisus. I always retained a certain affinity/affection for him and was very glad to be able to read his biography. I still invoke him and ask him to bless my priestly ministry. I hope that his life can be better known and his intercession become fruitful in the lives of many.

Comments I have returned from Rome where I had meetings with the Postulator General for Claretian causes of canonization and beatification, Fr. Vicente Pecharromán, CMF.
