Attended the Inspire evening at Warehouse Church last night and was spellbound, even though I had heard some of your testimony previously at Beth's home. You are a dynamic speaker and kept me enthralled. Your words of encouragement touched my heart and I left the meeting feeling totally inspired to press on in every area of my life. Dear Irene, I am currently reading your book "Shattered Dreams" I work at a christian bookstore and came across the new release as it was being received in our store...I picked it up to skim through it and haven't put it down since! Your story is heartbreaking, yet I can grasp your strength and hope through out your story! I can relate to your sometimes "bull headedness" if I may put it, and have found myself laughing out loud at some of your antics! Irene, you are even more amazing than I ever realized before. Of all the years I’ve known you, I never knew of the trials and adverse situations you dealt with in your earlier years. This now makes clear some of the statements I’ve heard you make in the nineties about how you never got to be involved in business or do public speaking, which were things you always dreamed of and recently had started doing. You always spoke of wanting to do something for your children, friends and others who needed a helping hand; now what a beautiful way this is going to afford you to accomplish that dream. I especially remember in the mid-nineties when we did some marketing together and you were so exciting and an inspiration to all of us. As you explained your joy and success (in that breathless nonstop speaking – you know what I mean and others will when they hear you) and told how many children and grandchildren you had then, your true enthusiasm filled the room and so moved one of the black gentlemen he pumped his fist in the air and shouted out “Go Granny Go!”, that brought down the rafters. Thank you for that memorable moment. I also want to thank you for the wonderful card you sent last December, it came at a very low point in my life and will be glued to the inside cover of your book for safe keeping. I would like to thank you for your tremdous courage to write your memoirs into a book. I saw your interview on Anderson Cooper 360. I wrote the name of your book down and went to Barnes and Noble the next day and bought it. It was the only copy they had l> eft. I couldn't put it down. I'm an avid reader especially when it comes to memoirs. Irene, The book is great. I'm friends with Jennifer Lebaron here in Austin, Texas and she sent out an email promoting the book. I bought it this weekend and have not been able to put it down. And, I don't even like reading. It is just so differnt than how I was brought up that it is almost like fiction. I'm just now to the part where you married Verlan.
