Lived in Dechert in 1942, and '42....during Camp Forrest...and went to the 2nd Grade at the old elementary school....have many fond memories of walking to and from school everyday, and turning right at the RR track to our large white duplex on a high bank on the left.

Hello, Decherd was a very clean little town when Mayors Shelly and Smith were in office in hte 1980's and 1990's. What has happened to little Decherd? IT is down right dirty looking. The old part of town is terrible. I was visiting relatives last week and they told me the water department was broke and the city had gone through $700,000 in reserves. It breaks my heart to think that my great - great grandfather Peter's little town is in such shape. When will a new a better council and mayor be elected. Aloha Kaua My name is Lyle Snow.My Mother was Susan Garner Fisher,A native of Decherd and the daughter of Helen Inez Garner and Lyle "Dude" Fisher My Mother recently passed away I am told in Dechard and would like to see her obituary if possible. I do not know my mothers Last name at her death,but I hope that since she came from one of Dechard oldest Families (Garner),and I know she last resided in Dechard, it would be possible. My cousin,whom ive not seen in Decades is Tony Garner,His Father,my Uncle owned Garner Insurence ,My great Grandmother lived in an Old house with My Aunt Ruth and Lorraine Garner across the street from a elementary school where My Grandmother attended school with Dina Shore. I went to school with Tony, we were best friends for as long as I lived there. My Mother was from there. (Mary Sophie Glaus) We lived next to the milk plant. Started school there. 1st grade teacher was Miss Rose. Have not been back in as least 25 years. Was a great place to grow up. Bill Lake

I am thinking of making a petintion concerning a skatepark in decherd or winchester because decherd banned skateboarding and skateboarding is a sport and should be used fluently and it's very fun.It is also a sport wich many people do.So i'm trying to see how many sighners I would need for this to even get thaught of I know i have at least 200-250 people who is willing to sighn this petention already.So PLEASE take into consideration for this idea.

Lived in Dechard in the late forties and early fifties! Back then a young boy could wonder the entire town, go skinnie dipping in the creek, and explore the woods without being molested, shot, or picked up and held for ransom. Hello, I grew up in Decherd, Tennessee and my parents lived on Hotel Street. I know that at one time Decherd Depot had 8 passenger trains stopping at Decherd and that a Hotel was built to accommodate the travelers.
