Comments I really enjoyed your web site. Being a former Indy 500 Photographer in the 80's, I realize the effort you had to take to make such great photographs. Thank You for sharing your Photographs and the History of Oklahoma. Don Knapp

Comments Great site. Warren at Racing From The Past has put the word out about your upcoming site. I spent many a saturday night at the Tulsa fairgrounds during the 70's and 80's watching the supers. Got interested in the races as a high school kid with George Armstrongs little brother Tony. First experience with the Tulsa cars was as Jack Wickett would stop by my dads gas station in Sand Springs on his way to the track. I miss those days. Good luck on your new site.

Comments I learned of the site from a post on the OklahomaTidbits race forum. I have never raced but I'm a race fan. Never met Danley, but I read everything I can about the history of Oklahoma racing. I respect the work that goes into a site like this, and I know how long it takes to scan pictures. All your work will be for good as I believe as word travels with racers and fans(and it will) that you will have lots more visitors here with a deep appreciation for those working to preserve Oklahomas racing heritage. This viewer appreciates your work deeply, and I wish you good times as you scan and enter more pictures and add to the stories of racing in Oklahoma. Your work is appreciated... thank you so much for the glimpse into the not so distant past!

Comments I enjoyed seeing the old photos. I remember your photos from the 60's when I attended the races when Dick Colvin was promoting. I was editor of the Tulsa Speedway News from 1972 until the track closed in 1983. I continued to work at Tulsa Speedway when it moved up North and stayed there until it closed 2 years ago. I am now helping at Creek County Speedway and do freelance reporting for the Tulsa World.

Comments it is nice to see this page. i saw the link to it on WWW.racingfromthepast.com . I too worked for Tulsa Speedway from 1983 till 2005 as a writer for the Speedway News and infield worker. i began attending the races in 1965 with my Dad. he had two close friends that raced in that era, Wayne Servaes, who he remained close to until they passed, and Lee Roy Ellis. keep up the good work and thanks for sharing your view of the past with us.

Comments My Dad, Bud Hatch, raced in KS,Ok Mo and the dirt tracks around the 60's and early 70's. We spent time with Danley and his family, often spending the night in Tulsa with them after the Sat night races, before going home sun morning. Just some of the great memories I have of my childhood. I didn't know how special a childhood I had until the old dirt tracks started to disappear and real life kicks in with marriage and kids,(did I mention grandkids?) Thanks for the memories,Danley! Comments I found this site both on HAMB and Warren's Racing from the Past site. Spent almost every Saturday night during my Jr. High years at the speedway. Of the photos here, I particularly remember the night Al Lemmons ended up on top of the catch fence. Pretty scary. I remember the announcer (was is still Glenn Hoheimer?) asking for medical help in the stands as women were fainting. There will never be another place like it or an era like it. AND, I still have some copies of Speedway News!

Comments Hi Danley! I tried to see you at the Al Lemmons Memorial old timers meet, but I got busy shooting video. I know you never had that problem. Just thought I would let you know how great this site is. You and Tim Malone got me started in a hobby that I still have not given up. You and your camera crew covered all of the action at the largest weekly racing event in the U.S.A. I hope we will see many more pages of Tulsa and this area here at this site.
