Lovely website I found your gift of the heart this morning as I prepared to make the communion bread for my only daughter's wedding. Thank you so much for your walk w/the Holy Spirit that led to the sharing of your recipe.

Boy, must have done something. I'm not "Suzee Homemaker" -- and mom does not have a phone in heaven. I scored the bread in quarter sections. They puffed up when baked. Did I knead too long (have kitchaide with dough hook). Used 6 cups of flour, dough pulled away then I "stirred for 6 more minutes. Help.

A Friend said the old colony Mennonites in Mexico made a cluster of small round balls, and this was broken from cluster to be served at commnion service. So, I am hunting a recipe for this.

Lord's Supper/Passover/Communion Bread 2 cups flour 1 tsp salt 1 tbl sugar 4 tbl butter (1/2 stick) 3/4 cup milk Combine dry ingredients in bowl. Cut in butter with pastry blender or fork. Add milk and stir. On a floured board pat out pastry mix to 1/2 inch thick. Bake on ungreased sheet at 450 degrees for 15-20 minutes. If desired, pre-cut before baking with small round cutter, but watch carefully as pre-cutting will decrease cooking time. Cool on a rack to avoid excess moisture buildup. May be frozen until needed.

Thank you for this recipe. I decided to check into getting one for our church and I will try this for sure. I found some from a St. Just Communion Bread but with yeast. In Jesus' time no yeast was used. Thank you

Wonderful information. God lead me to your site as i was looking for info to share with the youth tonight. They have a tendency to act immature while we observe Communion so my husband and I are going to explain to them why it is so important to take it seriously. Thanks for your input... helped a lot!

I've always hated those commmunion wafers that are given @ Communion Services in most of the churches in America. Finally someone has interpreted the ingredients that was used at the Lord's Passover meal for the bread!

I grew up in the Church of the Brethren and my grandfather was a pastor of the Old Order River Brethren. We celebrated Love Feast with Communion and the ladies of the church made the communion bread. I have a recipe from our church that is for nearly 400 people - much more than I need and reducing a recipe doesn't always work out. I'm thankful to find this site.
