Hi! Some years back I bought a paper bag full of little white historical Generals and Admirals. I didn't know any better at the time, so I painted them. When my wife asked what they were I had to admit I didn't know! This week I began looking around, and I think they're Marx toys, no? I wondered where I might go to see an accounting of the entire collection: I don't know how many, if any, I'm short, and where I might find the rest. After all, as I say I bought them in a small poke for $1.50 and don't know where they came from. If anyone can help? Thanks!

I had as a kid several Marx playsets; Jungle, Wells Fargo, Farm, Arctic, Robin Hood. That I didn't save them is a great regret, but of course, most people didn't.

funny , most people dont know that Marx was the company that first made the hess truck. It was made in the Hong Kong plant like most of Louis Marx foreign toys were made. It seemed likeMr Marx always liked the foreign line a little more.

How great was Marx? When we run out to buy a Hess truck each year most pepole didnt know that Marx was the toy company that started it all.A great truck or boat or trailer with lights and tons of extras, and the price was right.

Way back then Marks made servial Skill ball games but the best one was played in the maine showroom at 200 fith ave. It wasplayed on a round table with 3 balls and most of the maine buyers who came to see the toy line would stop into the showroom that had the skill ball game. When Mr Marx was in the office no one played but when he was out , everybody was lookingto play skill ball.

Who know that in this day we would have to buy our toys for the kids from ??? Lets see were do you go ? Target,Walmart,Kaymart. They control the toy market. And by the way the toys are made over in china by CHILDERN in slave condictions. Most of the toys that Marx made were done here in the U.S and his workers made a good days pay.

Back in 1960 through 1970 Marx had my boss Cliff Freeland and myself go to the large dept stores and set up large displays for trains and slot cars. the store would set up a glassed table ,sometimes as big as 30 by 60 ft and we would build train layouts with trees lakes citys, the workes. the biggest one we built ws in RH macys in new york.We had a great time making them.OH by the way THat was when you had a santa clause in the store and kids liked to go shopping with Mom.

Louie Marx know most of the owners of resturants around new york city One year i had to go up to Longchamps and build a Santa workshop and wooden soliders in the main dinning room. Marx had the stock room at the office send up a ton of toys to give out to the kids. Marx had a wearhouse on the south side of 23 street just for toys that were given out to all the charites and special people, MOst people didnt know that he had a hart of gold and loved kids

I read with interest with the information you have on Louis Marx. I am trying to put together information on the Toby Toys brand of Louis Marx Toys. I can only find one other site relating to the die-cast range of toys. Any information would be welcomed.

I have photos of a Multiple Toymakers Popeye and Olive Oyl for your archives. They are circa late 1960s to early 1970s and were sent to my dad as a sample as he was a toy buyer. They are plastic and jointed and I honestly don't think they were ever placed into production. E-mail me and I will be happy to send the photos to you.
