Comments I met Warren only once, but every time I use the UNDO key, I thank him. It's sad to think that mind won't be coming up with new ideas.

Comments I got to know Warren (& Deborah) when I fell in love and married Paula, Warren’s sister. Warren was both brilliant & engaging. Whenever we were together there was a definite connection. Warren was someone I enjoyed talking with. He took me to world’s I didn’t know (e.g., computer science, dog agility) and we shared insights on the worlds we both knew (e.g., stock market, movies). The night before Warren died, he emailed me about a DVD I just sent him. Warren had two weeks previously, while Paula & I were staying with him & Deborah, given me the draft of his book (“Memoirs of a Geek”). In it Warren mentions the influence of a little known, but favorite movie of ours, “Then Came Bronson”, about the adventures of a guy who rides away from his CA life, traversing the country on his motorcycle. Warren is physically gone. However, his presence is still felt and, I believe, always will be. For me, Warren is simply riding off on his bike, for further adventures, on the other side. I look forward to being there with him there eventuall

Comments Dear Deborah, I have just read your sad email about Warren. Although i did not stay in touch with Warren after high school, i do have very fond memories of him. Warren and i were selected from our 4th grade class at Coral Way Elementary School to represent our class in the school Spelling Bee. We studied together several times...... He was not only very smart; he had a fun personality and we laughed a lot together. I am so sorry about your loss.....Warren will remain in my memory bank with great fondness. Warm regards, Linda Rovin Cooper

Comments I was fortunate to have worked with Warren at BayStone. I have many very vivid and fond memories of my time there. I had never before had a chance to work for someone as smart as Warren, but he was also very funny and very good at teaching people around him. He would assign developers tasks related to a specific feature or function in the software package, and you would go into his office to have him review your work. If your code worked he'd give you another task, but if your code did not work he would have you to back and redo it, and it would cost you a quarter. He did not put the quarters into a jar or desk drawer, however. He would tape the to his office door, like a pelt or trophy. After several months his door looked like a viking shield with the coins covering it! He had an energy and enthusiasm for work that was contagious. I feel very fortunate to have had a chance to meet Warren and to work for him.

Comments Deborah, I want to thank you for reaching out to Warren's high school friends. Had you not done this, I never would have known of his many accomplishments. I am so sorry to hear about his untimely death. I consider any death under age 80 to be untimely. I was an officer in Tri Alpha, a club for the kids who had the highest grades. I have to laugh at the difference between high schools today (my grandson) and back then. I was a secretarial student who never even took algebra, but I made almost all A's. Warren was considered to be kind of a nerdy guy, but that was the way it was back then. From seeing his pictures on this website, I gather he became very good looking and hunky! BTW, most of our cheerleading squad of cuties (I wasn't a cheerleader) are now on the obese side. I found several pictures of Warren in our yearbook. I am consumed by other activities at the moment, but I'll try to scan the pictures and send them to you well before the Memorial Service. I am so sorry for your loss. Diane

Comments I admired and respected Warren even before I met him. As the author of DWIM and many other pieces of Interlisp I looked up to him and his work. Soon after starting to work at Sun Micro, I was invited to a meeting with a bunch of people I didn't really know. I got there early and somebody said that we were waiting for "Warren Teitelman" and others. When Warren came into the room I asked him, "are you THE Warren Teitelman?" He looked a little surprised and said something like, "I guess …" at which point I literally kneeled before him and said "You are Mr DWIM!" We all had a big laugh and he and I remained good buddies since then. I am honored by having known him and privileged to have worked with him.

Comments I admit at first DWIM took me some time to get used to, but for a dyslexic computer scientist my life would have been hell without DWIM and undo. Thank you for your impact on my life and your goodies I could benefit from while at PARC and beyond.

Comments So long Warren for as long as I knew you I never got to know you that will and now I think of opportunely's missed never to come my way again. You opened a door showing your your self and one of your true passion with my daughters by showing off your beloved dogs to them leaving them with a found memory of their uncle and his pretty dogs. The best opportunely was not missed, Thanks Warren for shearing that with my kids.

Comments I'm so sorry to hear of Warrens passing. My Doberman Khan and I met him at dog training, taking several classes with Georganne. He made those classes fun adding many of his own ideas. His love and dedication to Zayvee were most admirable. It spoke volumes about him as a man and human being . My thoughts and prayers are with the family and the many many people whose lives were touched by this special man.

Comments Like many of his 'dog friends' I was stunned to read the news of Warren's passing. I did not know him well, but remember he always had a smile & greeting for those of us in the agility crowd. He could almost always be counted on to lend a hand working a class. He was so happy & excited the last time I saw him run, at SMART, and so very proud of Pirate. I hope that someone can run Pirate at the PASA trial in November in honor of Warren. I think it would make him smile, wherever he may be. Deepest sympathy & best wishes. Maggie Guthrie & Corgi the Aussie

Comments Warren was the first mentor I had in the industry that was able to push me beyond my comfort limit. He taught me the true value of working with people, with humans that have desires, goals, concerns, conflicts and a life. And he was always able to approach both work and life with a sense of humor! He will be missed. He will be remembered.

Comments I never actually knew warren, but he was a face I have seen at almost every agility trial I have ever entered. He was one of the "regulars" I always expected to see at a trial, and thus was woven into the fabric of my own agility experiences. My thoughts are with his family. Please know that Warren will be missed.

Comments It was fun working with Warren at Google. He was a fun person to spend time with, and it makes me sad that he has left us so soon. Warren wasn't shy about tackling difficult problems, and threw himself into the deep end and made things work.

Comments As a fellow Aussie owner, I know what it's like to not have the fastest dog on the field. But watching Warren work with Zayvee and Pirate was always fun because of the enthusiasm and patience Warren always had. We will miss him.

Comments I met Warren while working at Google. When I first heard of him my manager referred to him as "Wardog" (this is still his name in phone contacts). When I asked why “Wardog” she explained that he was a brilliant engineer who would tend to scare the crap out of people. (When I later told Warren about this he got that adorable devious smile of his and started cracking up). She then explained that I would be working with him on our contract processing tool "COS". Great, I thought. They are throwing me to the dogs (this was pre Warren having Zayvee). I went to Warren's office to start on the project and was a bit intimidated I must admit. Warren and I sat down and started going over requirements and I was immediately told “don't tell me how to do my job, just tell me what you need”. And then it hit me... Warren was just like my father! An engineer to the core, direct and no-nonsense. Immediately I was strangely at ease. As the years went on Warren and I continued to work together on projects. When Google acquired Y

Comments continued.... When Google acquired YouTube and we started working on the integration process I coined a new nickname for Warren and started introducing him as “The Man Behind the Curtain”. YouTubers were sooo excited to meet this mysterious man that when I finally had him come to the offices it was a packed house! On a side note, I think Warren liked this nickname but he would never admit it. Warren had a big impact on my professional career and for that I am truly grateful. He was a brilliant, funny, quirky and dear person with a heart of gold whom I will never forget. There are so many other funny Warren stories that I cherish, but I wanted to share at least one here on his GuestBook.
