Comments Wonderful site! I'm reading the Arner Book with great interest! Thank you for all this work. My grandmother: Laurene Troutman Moore, daughter of Thomas George Troutman & Adda Hall. Her grandmother: Christiana Arner. I've noticed several family trees on the Internet missing information about Thomas George Troutman's descendants. He had two children, Clyde (1891) and Laurene (1898) in Oakdale, PA. They moved to Monroe, OH before 1910 and Tulsa, OK after 1910 - my gr. grandfather Troutman was in the oil business and followed it. Please email me if you're trying to fill in your family tree; I'm not sure this is the place for me to give such lengthy information.

Comments I am one of those "Arners south of Windsor, Ontario, or I was until I recently moved northwest to an area near the border of Minnesota. My ancestry is directly tied to the first Arner to come to British North America/ Upper Canada during the American revolutionary war. Some theories suggest they were prisoners who became converted to fight for the Brits against the Yankees, others might see them as opportunists. They did receive a sizeable tract of land for defending against the Americans possible invasion. The Europeans did anyway, but the natives who fought alongside them, well, the British pretended to befriend them, but ultimately decided they needed to suppress them enough to pursue British aims... Anyway, long story short, it is a very long and interesting history that all the Arners share, and I'd love to know what and where my ancestors were in the earliest days of North America.

Comments I am very excited to find this website. I am an Arner descendant on my mother's side. My grandfather was Nelson A. Orner. Felix Arner (Jr) was his great grandfather so Felix Arner (Sr) was his great, great grandfather. I would like to know if there have been any reunions since 2004. Will there be one this year and if so when? I am planning to take a trip to Pennsylvania this summer to visit the places where my mother grew up. I have never been to that area of Pennsylvania. I also want to find living relatives. I hope you can help me. I look forward to hearing from someone. Darlene Kraft 321-795-6801

Comments I found your website by doing a wordsearch " Andreas Yehl (Jehl/Yeal/Yeahl/Yale) landowner Pa" or somesuch thing, as I am sure the birthdate that I have for him, a generalized " about 1742" has to be incorrect, because I am fairly certain that his son "Jacob Sr." was a Captain in the Revolutionary War who mustered out in 1781, so Jacob had to be born earlier also (I have a date "about 1765). I just assumed that Andreas/Andrew had land. I am having a time finding out if Andreas immigrated (probably) and when. None of the church records I was so excited to see his name in the Arner Book! I am directly descended from Andreas and his first wife, Christina/christine (no last name)through 3 Jacobs, then Samuel (Civil War), his son Abraham Jacob (my Great-Grandfather); his younger son, Randolph Martin Yale was my Grandfather, who died when I was just seven in 1960. My mother is still with us at 80. I could not open the document, perhaps a mismatch, but opened it with wordpad. Thanks, I'm so happy!

Comments I'm one of those Arners your site mentions who is from the north side of Lake Erie. I'm a direct descendant of Jacob Arner who was a Butler's Ranger during the late 1700s and was rewarded for his service with a large plot of land. He is my great(x5) grandfather. I am, right now, a high school music teacher in Northwestern Ontario.

Comments Good summary, compliments on your efforts to assemble this. On your website home page, there are some misspelled words (ironically, under the subject of "Spelling the Arner name") You refer to the "Stadt Archives" of Zurich. Note that one can speak of a Staatsarchiv (Cantonal Archives) and a Stadtarchiv (City Archives), as Zürich is the name for the canton as well as the city. In this case, the correct reference is to the Cantonal Archives [of the Canton of Zürich]. The Dr. you mentioned as Director of the Cantonal Archives is spelled Dr. Pfister (not Phister). I am descended from Jacob Arner (born 1759) who married Barbara Arnold and settled on the N. Shore of Lake Erie after the U.S. Revolutionary War. While I don’t personally have evidence that Jacob was a direct descendant of Johann Ulrich Arner, it seems quite likely that he would have been a son or a grandson. Perhaps someone out there has more. Kurt My Grandfather, Harold Stanley (Cy) Arner (born 08 Feb 1902 in Gosfield Township, Ontario, Canada) w

Comments My mother was an Arner, Hazel Arner (Richter) descended from the youngest son of the original settler. Her OH lineage goes back to Phillip Arner, the first settler of Ellsworth, OH, in 1803. My great-grandfather Caleb had 9 children, in Ellsworth, OH. There were 7 girls and 2 boys. One of the boys had no kids, and the other, Ray, my grandfather, had four daughters, so the name died out there. But growing up next door, in Canfield, OH, I was surrounded by Arner cousins growing up. The cemetery in Ellsworth, OH has a lot of Arner gravestones. I attended the reunion in Lehigh Co in 2002; what fun! I also am the one who found some evidence of relation with the Canadian Arners, from a book in the Salt Lake City Mormon library, in the early 1980's. If anyone's near SLC, maybe this could be explored more. So glad to find this site, because the original site of Joe Erner had disappeared -- and thanks to him so much for all his research! I always felt like I have more "Arner" blood than anything else -- perhaps by being more surrounded by

Comments This is my second or third visit to the website, at least. Thanks to all who have contributed to this valuable resource! -Eric (great-great-great-great-great grandson of Jacob Arner I, whose farm is in Kingsville, Ontario, the town where I grew up). I actually grew up in the farmhouse built by the 4th generation of Canadian Arners in Canada (c. 1880), and my dad still lives in that house, which is on a road called "Arner Townline!"

Comments Hi - Please advise if you reside in PA or New England. I will be in Boston with my wife Corinne, the week following Easter 2019. We will be visiting our son Flurin who is living and working there with his girlfriend Sarah. I am descended from Jacob Arner of Kingsville, Essex Co., Ontario. This is the same Jacob who disappeared during the Revolutionary War in 1775 or thereabouts and re-emeged in SW Ontario to found a family with Barbara Arnold. So I believe we have a common ancestor in Johann Ulrich Arner of Windlach, Stadel. My grandfather was Harold Stanley (Cy) Arner, who emigrated from Canada to the USA (first Michigan, then California). My father, Richard Douglas Arner, was born in San Leandro, California on August 2nd, 1935. Today he and my mother live in Salt Lake City. I have two brothers, Paul (1956) and Mark (1957). In any case, I visited the Zurich Staatsarchiv today to view some of the original records of marriage, baptism and emigration. I was born in Walnut Creek, California and grew up in Fremont, Ca
