Comments Fantastic site! Brought back many memories of those days long gone but not to be forgotten. Assigned to 552nd AEW&C Wg as Air Ops Spec, dispatching. Surplus 27150 and ended up as HQ SQDN Mailman with CMSGT (1st SGT)Bill SCHULER (?) who had share in bar called VELVET HAMMER or GLOVE, with a Major. Think a Lint LOGAN was my room-mate. This was mid Jul 1965-Mar 1966. Can recall Pall Mall Bar in town and Capone's Chicago Tea Shoppe (Beer & Pizza)"Speakeasy" & Flatbottom Trio Band Sat nights no far from the base. Great memories of the place and area. Thanks for the Memory Lane Trip & God Bless

Comments Moved to Pittsburgh area, the cold clim. from Orlando (must have lost it huh) Flew radar operater with 966th AEW&C at Mc Coy 63/66 and 67/70. I've changed E-Mail address. I remember being reassigned to an additional flight while I was lounging on Daytona Beach! When I got back to the barricks I was told that I had been expidited! I slammed into a flight suit and squeeled tires to the flight line just in time to see my bird taxing in front of base ops! I quickly parked in front of base ops, ran in, got on the weather phone to the tower and requested they ask the connie to hold, ran to the bird and they dropped me the rope! Major Monar appoligized about the assignment mixup but I know it gave him a laugh when he first heard the story! "Only Pollen" Thanks Dean..you guys have brought alot of memories and joy to alot of us old connie lovers.

Comments In 1955 was assigned to 551st AEW&C, Wing Personnel Div and later to the NCO Academy as an instructor. Reassigned in 1957 to tech school at Yale Univ and after a number of assignments and schools retired as CWO, US Army. My happiest memories of my mil service were the time spent at Otis and the cape. I respected the AEW&C personnel more than any other group I served with.

Comments May you all have a happy and grand 2004. In 1955 thru 57 was a Ssgt assigned to 551st Wg Admin and later to the 551st NCO Academy as instructor. After bouncing around in AISS and OSI retired from the Army CID. Sure would like to hear from my former co-workers at the 551st, the unit I am most proud to have served in.

Comments I served as a maintenance officer with the 552nd OMS and FMS in 1965-67. I have a number of photographs of EC-121 incidents that I liberated from Lockheed rep T.J. Smith when he transferred to the 553rd, as well as a list of some people who served in the Wing when I did and some reminiscences. If you are interested in adding any or all of these to your site, please let me know. Alan Dinn

Comments I too remember the blizzard of 1960. I went on post on Thursday night at 4pm and wasn't relieved until Sunday afternoon, although I was able to walk to a missle post and get inside a large bldg with other Air Policemen to stay warm. As I remember it, we played a lot of cards during that storm. As a member of the 55lst Air Police K-9 squadron my dog Darno helped to keep me warm.

Comments The "good ole days" I flew with the 966, Mc Coy from July, '62 to Jan, '66 then again from Sept, '67 to base closing. It adds up to about 5,000 hours. There are a lot of guys I'd like to see again. One that springs vividly forward is a radar troop by the name of Perry. He was a ssgt when I knew him as a roommate and I think that guy knew every joke ever told. He was a bright light and a guy you would never forget. Another was "Gil" (Gilbert), a master sgt from the Carolinas with a glint in his eyes who went by the book but could be pursuaded into a pratical joke once in awhile. He and I achieved a few practical jokes such as radio check to Hickham from 50 ALPHA which stirred things up a bit off the west coast and myself hiding in behind the ovens in the galley and then having Gil tell a new troop to go in the back and get me...did he jump??!! Anyone, anyone at all, have any idea where these guys are today I'd love to know. Thanks guys, you always were the best (SGT)Albert "John" Pollen
