Comments As a child of 8 years,I remember the park with no electricity--just gas lights in the cottages and outside along the pathways. Bill Jones was "the old lamplighter" turning on the lights at dusk and turning them off at dawn. "those were the days!"

Comments My family owned cottage 10, 13 and 20 for years. I grew up there at RVP and loved every minute. My Grandfather George "Bucky" Hoffman just passed away and I was just thinking about all the great family times we had there. I would love to come back and visit sometime soon to share with my own children the RVP experience. Thanks for the memories.

Comments I remember the excitement at Ridgeview on VJ Day, August 15, 1945. (thank you Google) I don't know who heard the news first, but I remember the ringing of the bell at the chapel which caused a group to gather there. It was a happy day.

Comments My family vacationed at Ridgeview during the late '30s until 1946 or 7. My mothers family owned cottages during the early 1900s. I believe the cottage was in the Steele family, mothers aunt and uncle.

Comments Please can you help me. I was the caretaker here in Ocala Florida for Al Brown that just passed away on the 15th of Feb. I see in the article that the family has asked for donations to be made to the assocation but I can not find an address for the parks association. Can you help me out?

Comments Ridgeview is a special part of my childhoold as well. I remember staying overnight with my grandparents and my aunt. We loved the pool with the giant slide and watching the trains. I remember the old hotel with the tree in the dining room! The little store with the penny candy was the best way to end the day! Now when I walk into the little store - it takes me back 40 years in an instant. I just loved bringing my grandchildren to the park this year. Thank you for taking such good care of this beautiful and best kept secret.

Comments I am Lelah Hill Kanour, for four generations my family has been enjoying times at Ridgeview. I loved it growing up, and have brought my children there only a couple of times, since we have lived in other states. I was in a talent show there in the Auditorium with my sister when we were children , and our children were in one as well... when they were young. I loved getting the water at the spring, and hiking to the bear's cave and the water tower, enjoying the candy store and the swimming pool and picking blueberries with grandma by the train tracks. I am Ernest Fiscus Hill's daughter and great granddaughter of Mary Kinter Fiscus and Porter Fiscus. Edith Fiscus Hill and Frank Burdette Hill were my grandparents, and Everette Cooper and Mary Louise Hill Cooper were my aunt and uncle. We are working on a family tree, and wondered if anyone knew our family and might have any stories or pictures of our family. Also, could we have a schedule of the activities for the 125th celebration this summer? Maybe my sister, Susan, and I woul

Comments Hello! We own a cottage in your sister campground in Natrona Heights - at the Pittsburgh-Tarentum Camp Meeting Association. We would love to see your campground some time...they look so similar - but we only have 33 cottages and an above-ground pool. If you would like, you can see our places here...http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/valleynewsdispatch/living/s_691557.html I enjoyed your facebook page and videos. Thank you!

Comments For the newer folks at Ridgeview: My mother, Rebecca J. Cameron, along with my father, William B. Cameron (who worked in Latrobe at his full time job), had the store for several years, the last summer being 1956. Our store was, let's say, full service grocery store: Fresh cuts of beef, pork, veal, etc. Luncheon meats were freshly sliced at store. Bread and goodies arrived daily, along with milk and milk products; all canned goods were stocked in the store, fresh pastries, all soda pops, a full candy case, an ice cream bar where, along with bulk, hand-packed ice cream, sundaes, milkshakes, and banana splits were served. The left side of the store was the grocery side and the right side was the ice cream section with 3 large, high backed booths. I, along with my brother, Ronald, and sister, Donna Jean enjoyed many summers there. There was nothing any better, and we all had many good friends there, some of who we are still in touch with. There was a lot of fun all the time as people would stay straight through the s

Comments My parents, the Olnhausens owned # 59 and we summered there for about 7 yrs. Tim is coming from FL. and we will be at the dinner, July 16th. I have many stories I can tell but don't want to takethe space. Bill Stitt has been my contact because his mother, Ruth, and I reside at Long- wood-at-Oakmont as does Betty Wilcox and Virignia Bankson and Evie Sumner did. I have the photo directory and I recognize many 2nd and 3rd gener- ation residents.
