Comments Hello Tania, I hope my letter finds you well. I found the reference to you and your book quite by accident actually.I was originally enquiring on a google page for any information about your very beautiful and brave mother. Having read of all of Violette's exploits I realised there was even more to Her than I had previously learnt. I first read the book about Violette, ''Carve Her Name With Pride'' in 1959 when I was 14, after I had seen the film of the same name. What a true Heroin your Mother was, it makes you proud to be British. During the early Sixties I visited the Village, Salon-La-Tours, where your Mother was involved in a gun battle with a German force. A farmer of about 60 or so at the time told us about how Violet had single-handedly kept the Germans at bay until her ammunition ran out. He also told of how the Germans kept the villagers in their homes after the gun battle to cover up the number of ''Les Boches'' that had been killed too. It was the top local news topic for years after it happened too. Rousing

Comments More than anything i would love to read this book. This sounds like an incredible biography. but Tania..over $40.00 US. plus an additional US 40.00 dollars to ship. i am far too poor to indulge in an $80.00+ book. what a shame. congratulations on you effort, though.

Comments Tania Your Mother has been an inspiration to me and for many of my friends for many years. Having spent over 35 years in the military and still working in this world I find her bravery still shines on like a beacon. Good Luck with your ventures I am sure she will be looking on with pride.

Comments My Wife and I visited Jersey in 2007 and went to the underground hospital which has a section devoted to Violette and her husband. We were quite moved by the exhibit. In June 2008 we returned to Jersey, together with a friend, and re-visited the war tunnels. After our visit we had a cup of tea in the first floor tea room and there sitting at the next table was Tania! She had called to sign some more copies of her book, which are on sale in the ground floor shop, and we spent some time with her talking about her Mother's life. She kindly personally signed books for both us and our friend and posed for photos. She is a very pleasant person to talk to and is now 66 and living in Jersey. We had great pleasure in meeting this very kind and interesting woman who's Mother we owe so much.

Comments I first heard of Violette Szabo many years ago. When my wife and I got married we used her poem as part of our marriage vows and were very proud to do so. Many asked where the poem had come from so hopefully we played our part in ensuring that her name will live on.

Comments I lived a few doors away from a lady in the 50's who knew Violet at school. I grew up in the same area, and remember the picture in the daily paper when Violets daughter was awarded the George Cross with her Grandparents, read the book and saw the film. The real cost of war that a child loses both mother and father, l often question the brave sacrifices of so many men and women who died for a free world, but the politicians have other idea's unfortunately.

Comments I was a young girl of about 13 when I read Carve her name with pride. I never ever forgot the name Violette Szabo, and have recently at the age of 54 got the book so I can re read it.I can remember sitting in my bath and the tears rolling down my face. I have never forgotten how this story moved me. And I often through the years think of her. A car drove past me the day I had started reading the book on the motorway. The car number plate was szabo. They had used a 6 instead of a b for some reason. I will know when i re read this book why it had such an impact on me.40 years later. her name is carved upon my memory never to be forgotten. As for the number plate well that is just special. kind regards angie hart xoxo

Comments I read the book about your very brave and beautiful mother,''Carve Her name with pride'' by R.J Minney. I also saw the film of the same name too when I was about 14. Such courage from somebody so young, too. To think that Violete single-handedly kept that German force at bay for so long. It makes you proud to be British, I truly wish I had known your Mother, what a Hero!

Comments I first watched the film 'Carve Her Name with Pride' with my father about 30 years ago.He told me I should watch it - he already knew the story. I thought Violette was the bravest woman I had ever heard of, and her story has stayed with me.I am now 51 years old. I have the film taped from TV and a very old copy of the book. I am so pleased that the film 'Female Agents' is being released, and I can't wait to read 'Young Brave and Beautiful'. I work in a secondary school and I know that teenagers today do not appreciate the bravery of women in the war. It is a world outside of theirs. I think stories like Violette's should be told to today's generation; it could be used in History, English and PHSCE. Good luck with the book. Your mother was beautiful, brave and an amazing woman.

Comments What can one say Viollet Szabo is surely one of the "Bravest of the Brave!" All school children around the world should have the oppurtinity to read about her. Actually 'Young Bold & Beautiful" along with the 'Diaries of Anne Frank," should be read by not just children but everyone. Such bravery brings tears to ones eyes.May her memory and of others like her live on forever, and be an inspiration to all.

Comments I saw "Carve her Name With Pride" many years ago and now at 62 I have just watched it again and been just as moved as the first time I saw it. I cannot imagine the depth of courage that Violette had...she made the ultimate sacrife for people like me who have enjoyed freedom all their lives. Thank you Violette!
