Comments Got Bragg in March 1973 - 1976 B troop /17th Cav UH-1M Crew Chief went to flight school came in 1977 - 1980 Retired in 1990 was called out of retirement for Desert storm and was with 18th Aviation Brigade . retired again in June 1991 .

Comments Served in the 129th from 1979 to 1981. I blew the safety record of the 129th by crashing due to a drive link trunnion bearing failure.. Still alive and kicking and still flying...Anybody else still out there?

Comments My point is that the 1st/82nd history should be accurate. A Co, 82nd AVN was called the “Cowboys” and not Wolfpack. I saw an reference that the 1st/82nd Avn Rgt, WOLFPACK.traced lineage back to A Co, 82 Avn Bn and Vietnam I reference the 82nd Aviation association, 82nd CAB history for 1st -82nd regiment. I believe that the Association history is not accurate. Perhaps your history may also need clarification in respect to A Co, 82nd Avn Bn callsign in Vietnam. 1st Battalion (Reconnaissance), 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade "Wolfpack" 1st Battalion, 82nd Aviation was activated 7 December 1962, at Fort Bragg, North Carolina as Company A, 82nd Aviation Battalion, an element of the 82nd Airborne Division. The assets of A Company significantly increased the Division's mission capabilities and provided a highly mobile and responsive source of combat power to the division commander. The unit was first committed to combat in the Republic of Vietnam. Company A became known as the "Wolfpack" and adopted the name as its ca

Comments I visited the new Brigade Headquarters last Friday and was very impressed. I talked to SSG Strandburg for two hours who was a SP/4 when I retired from the 1-82nd Combat Aviation Brigade in October of 1997. I served for 19.5 years all in the 82nd Aviation.

Comments I was part of the reorganization of the 82nd Aviation with the 128th and 129th Assault Helicopter Company's way back in 1979. Was assigned to B Company 82 AVN BN "Caveman" as a UH-1 and UH-60 Crew Chief, 1st Flight Platoon Sergeant and finally a TI. Left in October 1983. Had the best Times. All The Way.

Comments I was a very green W1 in the front seat on the night the rangers jumped on the airport in Panama and then one year later I learned that it can get to 100 F. at 0600 0n the ramp in Daharan Saudi Arabia. I was there.

Comments In 11/1984 reported to Co A, 82nd Combat Aviation Battalion as Aviation Operations Sp (borrowing space @ Pope AFB); barracks and Orderly/Supply Rooms at Smoke Bomb Hill. While there, the transition to the Brigade ocurred and I ETS'ed in 04/1987. In 1989 joined Puerto Rico National Guard and added 18 years of Active Duty to retire in 2008. The PRARNG Aviation family mourns the loss of CW2 Carlos Acevedo (also 82nd Aviation Veteran as 15P), CW3 Hector Ramirez and SSG Omar Sostre in the UH-72 fatal accident of 12/20/2010 off the northern coast of the island. RIP brothers!!!
