I can't wait to try the wheat flour recipe. I was recently asked to bring the Communion bread for our church and was very excited to find this recipe. Thank you!

I have made the unleavebed bread for our church for the past couple years. I use a recipe passed to my Mother back in the 70l's, however, this time we are making Gluten-free bread due to a rising need in our community. Bless you for being her and providing a much needed recipes.

I have been wanting to make communion bread for some time. Our Pastors wife told me that has done it for a retreat center. So I was looking at the web and found your site. I like it and the verses that you share . Thank you Amy

I am a teacher of the 4, 5, & 6th grades at church. We're working our way through the Books of Moses. This week we are experiencing the first Passover. I am hoping to make them some homemade unleavened bread.

Thanks for your web page! I, too, bake altar bread periodically for my parish. Today as I was putting the ingredients together, I was inspired to see was a Google search on the subject would give me. It's obvious there are many more of us quietly doing this for our church families than I had thought! I look forward to trying the recipes here.

Beth, our congregation is interested in trying a non yeast communion bread recipe. What is the yield per recipe of your recipe? We have about 500 to 600 people per Sunday, so I would need to know how to adjust the recipe. Your bread is wonderful! Thanks.

Always looking to find bread recipes. Last communion I helped distribute was a disaster for a boy who lost his bread in our intinction into the chalice. I think unleavened bread is better to avoid such a thing. He took it well, but as a result, didn't receive it physically.

I have never tried to make this bread and I was just looking to see what all was in it. We have a small church so we would like to just make fresh each year. We only have about 30 to 40 people at this time. God bless you for sharing this with everyone. Sister Arlene

Lord's Supper/Passover/Communion Bread 2 cups flour 1 tsp salt 1 tbl sugar 4 tbl butter (1/2 stick) 3/4 cup milk Combine dry ingredients in bowl. Cut in butter with pastry blender or fork. Add milk and stir. On a floured board pat out pastry mix to 1/2 inch thick. Bake on ungreased sheet at 450 degrees for 15-20 minutes. If desired, pre-cut before baking with small round cutter, but watch carefully as pre-cutting will decrease cooking time. Cool on a rack to avoid excess moisture buildup. May be frozen until needed.

I made only one change to the recipe with whole wheat, I did not use the molasses but added one more tablespoon of honey. The taste of the bread was better than that I had eaten before. I do hope the congregation likes it on Holy Thursday. Thanks ever so much for your help. Becky White

I would like to bake this communion bread with my Sunday school class. To save time in class, can your Recipe for Communion Bread be made the night before and refrigerated, and then rolled out, pierced and baked the next morning?

Beth, Thank you for this site. I enjoyed making the bread and remembering each of the scripture verses. I don't recall ever using unleavened bread at the church I attend. God bless you! Beth
