What a great resource! It's the most user friendly, complete guide I've seen. Can't wait to read it and spread the word! Thank you.

I am working on my masters in counseling and am taking a grief class. I lost a friend 2 years ago to a very unexpected death and wanted to know how I could help myself and other through the grief process. Currently in my grief class we have be asked to plan our own funerals and I know most people won't take it that seriously but I wanted to go ahead and really plan it. I am only 24 but my friend who died was 21 so who says I won't die young too. I work at a library and saw this book on one of our displays and it has been so helpful! I agree with the author, what I knew about funerals was from my experience of very traditional funerals and I don't want that for myself. Thank you so much for helping me to see that a funeral can really express the person you were and not someone people don't even recognize at the visitation.

I just checked out your web site. The book sounds awesome. I read a few things to my son, who told me it was morbid. I think it looks like very informative and good reading. I have severe COPD at 56 and working on a double lung transplant. It may or may not happen in time, but I need to make things as simple as I can. I have 2 children and 4 grandchildren. We just put my mother(85) with dementia in a nursing home 8/31/2010 and it's a battle already among the 3 remaining sisters. It's a nightmare I don't want my kids to deal with. I think buying your book will help me a lot, Lord knows I could use all I can get. God Bless

I got the book given to me, thought it would be an entertaining read (which it is), didn't expect that by the end of it I would be very keen indeed to lay my plans out for after I die - it seems a remarkably sensible thing to do. Thanks, Karen.

what a great offering! wish i'd known about it a week or so ago when my sweet father finally found peace and we were in the throes of planning his services. btw, i know kathy brehony and was delighted to find out several years ago that you were indeed the same karen jones i used to watch do the weather on tv when i lived down that way. definitely plan to purchase your book so my partner and i can get our own "pre-morts" in order. best to you and much success!

I am looking forward to reading this book and making some of those difficult decisions now. I don't like the pressure of making quick decisions when I am under stress. I am already smiling at the humorous comments in the book, so I think it will be a good gift for close friends! Thanks for writing "Death for Beginners", Karen.

Very interesting and informative website. I plan on buying the book. I am 66, so the topic becomes more relevant as the years fly by. Thanks for this, Karen.

Can't wait for this book to be printed. Am ordering copies for all of my "boomer" friends at work. Who would have thought that planning my funeral could be such fun!!??
