Good evening I am currently researching my family history Sprauve and saw that the spelling wasn't listed as part of the Virgin Island's families albeit there a huge branch of Sprauve' in the US and British Virgin Islands. I did note the spelling of the Sprouws or Spouse and I was wondering if that could be my family. When I follow those spellings they are linked to habitat ants of Virgin Gorda where there's a huge history of Sprauves. I'm seeking your assistance in proving some information that may lead to the dots being connected and back to St Eustatius or even further back to the origin of my families name.

The Picayo-Quetel,Rivera-Barry, and others have been in the islands since the mid 1600s. Picayo and Rivera last names are Cuban from La Habana and Pinar Del Rio provinces. Please add Picayo and Rivera as our loved ones have forever been interred there and it is our home.

My research is upon families: Thomas, Kingston, also Edwards. Charles Thomas and Sarah Kingston (my great-grand parents) immigrated to Puerto Rico, probably between 1875 and 1885. They came from Antigua, but who knows if they lived or had families in some other places in Virgin Island. If someone has any information would be appreciated. I am the first-born daughter of Douglas Skeoch Armstrong, born Feb. 20, 1893 at home, Bulowsminde, St. Croix; married August 26, 1933 in the Bethlehem Chapel of the Washington DC Cathedral to Rachel Edith Holst (b. 12-31-1911 in Victor, Montana, died 12-27-1988 in Coupeville, Washington). Douglas died October 26, 1958 at Roosevelt Hospital in New York City, is buried at Bulowsminde in the Armstrong Family private cemetery. I was born at home, Estate Beeston Hill, August 3, 1934; married to John Anthony Jamieson (b. 16 March 1929 in Barnet, London, England, died 2 October 1999 in Bellingham, Washington)July 7, 1956. We have three children by adoption. My brother Robert Douglas Armstrong was born at home, Estate Beeston Hill, St. Croix, Nov. 22, 1935, died 21 May 2005 in Asheville North Carolina and is buried in the family plot at Bulowminde. EILETS FAMILY: I am grand-daughter of George and Francisca Eilets both born in St. Croix, Dutch West Indies in 1800's. Francisca moved to N.Y via SS:Parima in 1913. George sailed to NY aboard the SS:Guiana in 1924. They had 7 children. Leon, George Jr, Camille, Thelma, Walter, Leona and Gloria. I cannot find a death certificate for Francisca or George Eilets, including Francisca's mother Sarah Hatchett who was born in Anquilla,BVI and lived with them. They died in 1940's. Any help welcomed.

I have been looking at your entries for my Phelan, Doute and Carden ancestors. When you were compiling your raw information, did you make copies of source materials, like the "Christiansted Catholic Church, Church Book, 1780-1841, ff. 69, 131" cited as the source for the marriage of Henry Carden and Maria Louisa Doute? If so, does that source contain the names of the parents of the groom? I would love to know that. Also, the same question for the marriage of Anthony Phelan and Louisa Carden - cited to "RA, VILA, Inberetninger fra Menigheder, Christiansted Catholic Church, 1 March 1843." My Great GrandFather was a Danish Soldier in St Croix and his name was Hans Hansen. I do not see any info on him i your family listings. He and Amelia Vogelsang ( whom I don;t see listed either had one son Hans Persiwal Hansen in Nov 1894. Then in Dec 1898 my Great Grandfather married Jane Amelia Finnigan and had three children ellen, Anna and Herman the first part of 1900. They are listed in the 1901, 1920 and 1930 census. They lived at the company quarters of Richmond Prison and Insane Asylum. How can I find more info on Amelia Vogelsang and also more info on the Richmond Prison. I went to St Croix in 2007 and walked through the remains of the prison but couldn't find anyone to give me info.Even went to the library in St Thomas.

Irma Clausen, 1890 Census living at 16 Queen St, Christiansted with Thomas Moorhead household. US Marriage records indicate Christian Peter Clausen as father. I cannot find him in any Census records.Trying to determine her relationship with household head. Dont know if the Moorhead bio should be updated to include her as resident. 'm looking for my ancestry : Joachim WITT, danish. he came from Danmark about 1780 to island ST THomas.He married with Catherine DUCLOS and they had one daughter, born in 1797. His wife died in St Thomas between 1797 and 1804. They came in France about 1804 and lived in south FRANCE, at Castle FEAS. In the 1730's someone writes in his journal that Brother Carstens wanted to translate the bible into the creole language, and probably Virgin Islands Dutch Creole is meant. I am working on a Ph.D.-project in which I use eighteenth century material to search for the earliest stages of that language. Demographic material and Dutch dialects spoken in the Caribean in those days are more than helpful! This site is very helpful! I would like to get in contact!

My great grandfather Luis Antonio Firpo (1835-1922)from Aquadilla Puerto Rico married Alice Nelthropp; they moved to NYC and later to Paris, France. She died in 1932 and is buried in France. They had five children: Consuela Firpo (1902-1912 died of appendicitis); Antonio Firpo (1890-1934); Evelyn Firpo (1884- ); Maria Firpo Silva (1881); Henry Firpo (1878-1960). Henry Firpo married Eugenia Cox; they divorced but had three children: Henry Nelthropp Firpo (1902-1963); Larry Whitman Firpo (1904-); Walter W. Firpo (1904). Henry Nelthropp Firpo married a woman named Heloise. They had a child: Jacqueline Firpo who married Roger Hope. She lives in California.
