Comments I have already signed in. I would like to know if anyone knows where I can find a plastic model of a Ec-121? A WV Navy type would do, it can always be painted. I have searched the net with no luck. I know they made them in the 60s, I had one but my son wrecked it. Thanks

Comments Does anyone know the origin of "Charlie" it was used in lieu of "Roger" At the 551st. AEW was the only place I have ever seen it used. Was it used in the 552nd. I think it was only used by Radar operators and Homey and Diode Tell.

Comments Between 1961 and 1963 I flew with some great Aircraft Commanders with the 961st. Some were Capt Keppel, the silver fox: Capt Lunsford, Capt. Shaefer, Capt. Dow, Sq. commander Maj. Herndon, lost two engines with him once. Lt Buxton, Lt. Mitts, Maj. Smith, Maj Toomey, Capt. Potock, Capt. Purcel, Maj Bostic, Capt Degraft, Maj. Logwin, Maj. McAvoy, Maj Regan, Maj Kapple, Capt. Mahoney, Lt. Readon, Capt. McCollock, Lt. Carr, Maj. Basari, and practice three engine turns, Capt. Nordby, lose an engine with fuel left that was his virgin of dumping fuel. Then there was Col. O'Connor, Lt. Vanagas, Capt. McCoullough, Capt Miller, Capt Henkle, Lt Hammer, Lt. Chichester, Maj Sites, the football player Capt Majors or Magers, Lt.Col Glotz, and Capt Tibble. The last mission I flew with Capt. Shaefer on A/C 262, Homey 64. I had volunteered for Alaska. Hope this brings back some memories. I kept a logbook of each mission, the Aircraft Commander, A/C number, call sign, events during mission, engines lost ect.

Comments 1961-1965 552nd Airman 1st Class WRR. When grand memories are talked about and happy times revisited -- Let not the memory of Eugene "Rich" Richardson and Terry Engle be forgotten. They served with honor and died for their country so we may see our children grow to carry on. It is my hope that we remember all the heros that kept the 3350s running and the crews that flew in some of the darkest days and nights of our times. From Sacramento, Orlando, Keflavik ,Panama to Asia. The heros flying from Otis fighting to stay alive in the cold Atlantic are all to be honored and remembered. Past members of AEW&C alive or gone, belong to a very elite brotherhood and I am proud to belong to that group of patriots. WRR

Comments Enjoyed reliving my childhood on Otis AFB through these pages. My Father, Lt.Col Robert Keppel was an EC-121 pilot. Can still remember going with my mother and her sitting with a wife of one of the crew of a missing connie(1966 0r 67, I would have been about 11)waiting for news. She very sternly told me to behave. Thanks for the memories. I still have a few murky filmclips of armed forces days and JFK coming and going.
