Comments I was in HQ & HQ Co. 1 st Aviation, 1st Infantry Div in Phu Loi from Sept. 1965 to May 1966. There was nothing there except bomb craters from WWII. We had Armor there on the perimeter but I'm not sure what units. We also had track mounted 175mm howitzers. Great job on getting all the pictures loaded on here. Jerry

Comments Served in Phu Loi 67-68. Don't remember unit but I believe it was the 758th maint. and supply. Drove to Bien Hoi, Long Bien area frequently. Does anyone remember the bar between Phu Loi and Bien Hoi. Very friendly to Americans. Momma San, young Boy (who was proud of being able to recite the capital of all U.S.States) and young girl. They predicted we would pull out, but I assured them, we would never do that :-( Great site. Thanks for a job well done veterans. Warren

Comments Dan, I was with 2nd Civil Affairs near base camp Phu Loi from 66 until early 68 (before Tet)For a while I was attached to the 23rd Arty Grp and used to see you guys coming and going from the field. Pretty cool outfit. I was happy to find some pictures of the old parameter and the airstrip and laundry. Seems like I spent a lot of nights sitting on top of a guard bunker listening to the radio and watching the jets cut in their afterburners as the headed north from Saigon or the gun ships snaking what looked liked solid streams of tracer down on some firefight. Do you remember that the dinks had got a track some place with a 50 on it? They would drop a few mortar rounds in to get the gun ships up and then you would see this slow tracer fire coming back at them. I don't think they ever hit anyone and I'm not certain it they had a track or just the 50 cal. of of one. (hell of an intel guy huh?) Well, anyway you got a great site and the 1/4 Cav brought some serious pee down on old charles. You did your job. Sincerely-Thomas B. Mec
