I knew Doug since he was in the 2nd grade, and he was truly a great person. The type of person that was looked up to, and idealized.

I've known Doug since I was in the 2nd grade. I miss HIM so much. I don't understand why GOD would take a person like Doug, who would be such a great influential person here on earth. Everytime I go visit his gravesite, I tell God that I wish HE would of let me take God's place. I miss you more than words can say DOUG.

I left a comment on this site a few minutes ago, and had a TYPO. I said that when I go to visit Doug's gravesite, that I wish I could take God's place, I meant that i said........."i wish god would of taken me, instead of Doug, and I still wish that"

Today, Sunday Oct. 14th, 2007, I went to Doug's grave site for the first time for a long time. Although I think about Doug often, my grandma passed away in January, and I've had a difficult time with that. When I walked up to his grave, I completely lost it. It had been a while since I had talked to Doug in person, and I truly regret that. I hope he knows that. I miss you more than words can say Doug.

Doug, how does it feel to be 30? I was so wanting to ask you that in person. I can't believe you are gone. I don't understand WHY God would want to take a great person off the earth. I miss you a lot.

Another year if you can believe this. In fact so much time has passed that I often wonder who is leading praise and worship at CCF at West Georgia? Who is teaching those kids at Villa Rica Church? Wait are those kids now over 30 years old now? Awaiting the day the righteous will follow the King in for a 1000 year reign!

We had the privilege of knowing Doug for several years. My oldest daughter, Stephanie, grew up with him and later my daughter, Kimberly hung around with him also. I always remember the N.Y. Eve's party at Doug's house that my girls would always go to. I never had to worry about them, they always wanted to go and had lots of fun. I enjoyed the many times Doug was here at our house also. He was a great guy and a godly man. We miss him.

There's one thing that Doug said that has really stuck with me. I remember one night, at Ms. Taylor's bible study, he talked about how he struggled with living on "fast-food Jesus"... how it's so tempting to just rush through the day w/o slowing down for God. That really resonnates with me. Love ya, Doug...thanks.

I'm at the gravesite of my daughter Emily, watching my wife arrange flowers, seeing your amazing stone in the background. Doug, you are not forgotten, remembered with great fondness, and still an inspiration. Much still doesn't make sense, but I'm glad you're in heaven enjoying God's reward, and until we join you and Emily and it finally does all make perfect sense, I'm glad to remember and honor you every time we come here to remember and honor her.

Doug, we grew up together one summer at CCF in Carrollton. All these years later I still long for long nights of Tetris on the big screen when the world made sense. I miss my friend.

Dino-Doug, this week I lost another friend in the same horrible way we lost you. The fresh wave of grief brought me to this site and I have found comfort here. Thank you to your family for maintaining this and for keeping the focus on Christ. You have been in my heart all of these years. Take care of my friend...he can get a little rowdy at times.

I have a wonderful memory of Doug and Jay about 2:00 a.m. I heard laughter and noises in the kitchen in the middle of the night. What I found was Doug and Jay sorting hundreds of donuts and donut holes. They had retrieved them from a donut place at closing time. Neither were hungry for they had already had their fill. They were sorting out their favorites and putting the rest into trash bags. They had a mission in mind. When all were sorted...off they went into the night like santas with their bags over their shoulders. Their mission was to fill Blair Walker's pick-up with donuts. It was great fun...except, if I remember right..it rained shortly thereafter...and the donuts were now dunk'n donuts....what a mess. Don't worry...I'm sure Blair got even later!!

Well my dear Doug. It is now 11:22 p.m. September 3rd. Seven years after the phone rang and all I heard was static. I asked if it was you knowing you'd be driving home from CCF. But no answer. I even said in the phone you must have a bad connection. Then the next morning we found out it was the exact time of the head-on-collision. There's no record of that call but it was real. Later I reasoned it was God's way of connecting us so you could say good-by as you left for your journey heavenward. What a rocky seven years I've had trying to justify your leaving. God has blessed us so much now with 4 grandsons from Rob and Amy and Scott and Carrie. I've got two great daughter-in-laws...and Abby still keeps in touch. We love all of them. How does one life touch so many? We hear from those you touched. thank you Doug for blessing our life. Love you...Mom

Just stopping in to say hello. You are still missed almost every day. Our homegroup sang "I can only imagine" tonight. It brought back the memory of Brian Jobe singing at your funeral. It was so beautiful I could almost see you there with Jesus.

Every day there is something I see or do that brings you back to us. So many memories for your short 23 almost 24 years. Thank you to God that my memories are good, that you loved Jesus so much and was His servant. Can't wait to hold you and Steven in my arms again. Love you so much!

We miss you so much. Everyday something reminds us of you. Matthew and James talk about you and they are only 4 and 6. It's kind of nice actually. Looking forward to when we can hug you again. Love, Mom

We are told that those who love the Lord are in Heaven and having a wonderful time after they die here on earth. How does a mother or father stop the ache in their heart after losing a child? We have to hold so tight to that truth that our child, or children in our case, are alive in heaven that the hurt is eased and we must trust with all our hearts that we WILL see them again. Knowing THAT really does help. Happy Birthday Doug...we miss you, Love, Mom and Dad

Doug is in our minds, our hearts, our lives. He has touched so many and we thank everyone for sharing. Tomorrow Doug will be 30. We remember his life and how he lived for God and wanted his family to follow God too. That included all his earthly family: friends, teachers, and loved ones. I can't wait to hug you again. Love you,Mom

As time goes by, I know it will shorten the time I will see you again. Time has calmed the aches of missing you, but still think about you everyday. Miss you so much. Love you, Mom
