Comments Thank you for serving and letting us read your letters to your lovely wife. My beau is a Desert Storm vet, and he too still has a hard time, still hears the shots, feels the pain, etc. Again, thank you for all you did and God bless those who didn't make it back, from Nam and every other war we've had to and still are dealing with.

Comments Gary, I share the hearbeat feeling with you. The day you stepped into my country was the day I born. I recall my childhood once I read your letters, all surrouding with smoke, plash, gunfire, cry, blood...because I grew up in war, I distinguish the different between AR16 and AK47, and I hate what I heard. Vietnam war is still exist for those like you and me. Have you and Maxie plan to visit my country? God Bless You

Comments First and foremost, thank you for your service and for allowing all of us a glimpse into your life. Your words are so powerful and poignant. My grandpa served in WWII, my father in Vietnam, and my son in Iraq. I have such a deep appreciation for the sacrifices of our military members. Again, many thanks.

Comments God Bless you for your service. Your letters are so real to me because we have the letters written home from my brother to his wife. He did make it home but we lost him to Agent Orange poisoning in the prime of his life. Goddess Bless you

Comments Gary, I was a classmate of Maxie's back in high school. Thanks for sharing the passion and intimacy of these horrible days. It is an achievement that you survived your duty. It is a blessing that you and Maxie still and obviously have such passion for life and each other.

Comments Blessings to you both; thanks for doing this! My wonderful daughter just sent me the link to your webside so have not had a chance to read your letters; I am so looking forward doing just that! My husband made it back from N Vietnam but died due to war "issues" 11 yrs ago...I am at the last of my appeals for survivor's benefits. After it is over, I am volunteering with the local DAV to assist vets with this horrid process. Blessings and love also to ALL veterans; I am humbled by your infinite courage.

Comments Thank you so much for sharing this peice of your life. I couldn't stop reading until I had read them all.. and I came back today to read the new letter. Very touching the love you had for her after only being married 18 days. I am sorry for what you and all the troops had to endure in Vietnam. I have two uncles that served there that still suffer to this day from their experiences. God bless.

Comments Thank you for sharing these letters. I notice guests entries from Vietnamese people too. Your letters have touched many. My brother was a marine, younger than the Vietnam veterans, but a marine all of his life in Semper Fi attitude. Wishing you many more years together.

Comments I'm a German soldier's wife. Fortunately, I've never received such a letter until know. But I fear that in only 3 or 4 years my husband Andy has to go to any foreign country with the German Bundeswehr. It makes me really nervous because nobody knows what will happen until that day. Bye and "tsch゚", Steffi!

Comments Thank you for chosing to share your letters with the world. I enjoyed reading them while talking with my fiance via Yahoo Instant Messanger and we were talking about how some things never change. Some of the things written in your letters mirror what we write to eachotehr in Instant messangers, emails, and when I'm lucky an actual letter. He has been overseas deployed since last August and in overseas since last November. And I enjoyed reading about your mizuzzah making through Vietnam but am sorry to hear it was lost in Iraq. My grandfather wore a star through Korea and it is now my dad's. Thanks for allowing us to read about yuor experiences during this time. It amazes me how things have not changed much in regards to the letters home but at the same time its comforting to read about love during wartime and to know that love can be kept, even thousands of miles apart.

Comments First of all I appreciate your willingness to display such intimate thoughts during your experience in Vietnam. Of all the authors and so called experts who have written countless articles and books concerning the chain of events known as the Vietnam War, none of them have provided the insight that letters from GI's contain. Having been born well after your time there I could vividly see through your words the world you saw. Knowing where your heart and mind were, in spite of your circumstance, were compelling and inspiring. I've read many stories of the GI experience and very few were as colorful as yours. Once again thank you for sharing your letters God Bless.

Comments I think this is wonderful what you have done by posting these letters. I have never been in the position of having a loved one in a war until this past weekend. My best friend of 10 years was shipped to Iraq. My heart is still in my throat because of everything that is going on over there. Your letters let me know that I MUST keep in contact with my best friend and keep his spirits up during this time. Thanks again.

Comments By the way Marine...Just in case you've not been told enough...thank you from the bottom of my heart for securing my freedom so I could remain in Jr. High school during your tour. I pray God has and will bless you richly in the experiences of life. I'm not big enough to make a difference in your life for what you did for me, But He is. He's like any other father you've ever known..He just wants you to ask...Father, I pray that you would pour out your spirit on this man today. Open the windows of heaven and show your favor on him for all that he has done for this great country. Do not allow one sacrifice of his to go without blessing and thank you fro keeping him safe for his family during his lifetime. I pray you would draw him closer to you, and if he's not met your son Jesus, arrange that meeting today. In the name of your dear son, who by the way, gave his life for us. In Jesus name, Amen. Thanks again Marine! Rev. Larry
