Comments These are wonderful pictures of this grand old estate. I did want to correct one thing. Underneath one of the imagine, it states that there was once a racetrack built by the original owner, bit no traces of that track exist today. That racetrack was turned into a main road that runs straight through John's Island. Many people don't realize this, but that track is now Maybank Highway which runs from Folly Road, James Island, SC to Wadmalaw Island, SC. It's believed that the original track ran from the River Road intersection to Bohicket/Main Road intersection. That part of Maybank Highway is completely straight.

They seem to be from the 20’s or 30’s, maybe earlier. 3 photos, one labeled “an underground garage at fenwick hall”. Another shows a front view with a barn to the right, and another is a front view with a family posed by the steps. Would love to show these to you! Comments In the late 80's my Dad stayed here at Fenwick Hall as he recovered from Alcohol Addiction. He is now passed on yet I'm pleased to say he never returned to his addiction after his stay.

Comments I visited Fenwick Hall as a young news reporter when it was a hospital. Seems I was interviewing an addiction counselor and for some reason, I remember an indoor pool on the property. I still stop on River Road to look through the iron gate at the avenue of oaks. It remains one of my favorite spots in the Lowcountry. I'd be interested in learning more about the ghost stories at Fenwick. Thanks for preserving the memories of this landmark. Regards, Warren Peper

Comments When I was about 11 or 12 years old shortly after the new owners had purchased the property I visited Fenwick. My uncle was working on the renovation of the carriage house and they allowed him to bring my cousin and I to visit. We spent the entire day playing in the main house and all over the grounds. I wish I could remember the owners names. The wife gave us a tour (there's a door under the blue stair case that leads to the basement) and told us all about everything. We even got to take home a crystal from a chandelier in the great room (I think), I still have it all this time later! She even took us on a few errands with her (she drove a Land Rover) and to a florist shop that had the biggest most beautiful roses I had ever seen. She bought each of us one. That day is one of my favorite memories. I even did a few school reports on the plantation. I would love to go back one day and bring my children.
