Honestly a videogame (Velvet assassin) draw my attention to Violette Szabó, I am a big fan of history of the 20th century and I am amazed by her story. Her husband makes me a bit proud seeing that Etienne Szabó has Hungarian descent. A few drop of our ancient warriors' blood was in his veins for sure :) Cheers! Zoli gerlai Szentendre, Hungary

I addressed a congrgation regarding the events of the second world war. I was too young to be part of it, but I feel proud and honourd to have lived in the same time of these people. Violette Szabo was the bravest person, I have ever read about. This was confirmed by Odette Churchill. Both of these two Heroins will always have a place on every top table, wherever that may be. When I had finished my presentation to the audience, an elderly lady asked me how would I sum up the bravery of the people who were in the SOE., during the second world war. I answered with the famous words of Sir Winston Churchil: NEVER IN THE FIELD OF HUMAN CONFLICT, WAS SO MUCH OWED, TO SO FEW, BY SO MANY. The name of Violette Szabo will be emmortalised in the memory of every decent law abiding citizen, it will never die, but will be engraved in the memory of all who came after. Tania, you will be very proud to bear the name Szabo, Take the memory of you dearest mother and father with you wherever you may go. God Bless You.

I have just watched Virginia McKenna's portrayal of your mother's life for the first time in many years and I just have to say that Violette and her extraordinaary valour was an incredible lesson to us all. What I did not realise was how young she was. Thanks to her and others like her I was able to be born in freedom exactly one year after VE day on 8 May, 1946. God bless you.

Which also reminds of the equally "Young Brave and Beautiful" siblings, Hans and Sophie SCHOLL from the "White Rose" anti nazi student movement at the Munich University, likewise executed for merely protesting against their Country's evil regime. Namely for editing, mailing and handing their prinded leaflets, to anyone who might join hands to restore democracy.

Praise from the States! We just picked up the 1958 movie from a local library and viewed it. I am a WWII researcher and had not seen the film before. Most in the USA are unaware of Violette Szabo and her heroism. The movie deserves a remake to dispell the myths and to bring up to date the true facts of this compelling story. And I hope that Tania finds a worldwide distributor for her book.

My God! I've just read those unbelievable comments made by that vile little man. I praise you in leaving the comments up. How awful to think that unfortunately, this freedom of speech is exactly what Violette Szabo lost her life fighting for! Thank goodness that such uneducated, bigoted ignorant little non entities are few and far between! And they usually can't write!

A truly inspirational woman. Someone I think of often when my life gets weighed down by ridiculous and solvable problems. Wish I could have met her.

I have just finished the book on Violette by Tania. Very detailed and amazing sources. One feels as if Violette were talking now about it all. I liked the photographs as well and the analyzation of the German interrogation system. How fortunate that survivors in Violette's cell were able to tell their story to corroborate hers. I can just imagine Violette kicking herself as to how she got caught, on a journey she felt was all wrong. Also that there was a traitor much higher up, as it seems to me that every time the Germans caught an agent they knew virtually everything about their true identity.

I just finished watching a DVD of the movie "Carve Her Name With Pride". While it is a fine piece of film making, it barely does this woman the honor she deserves. She was a woman of uncommon valor.

Hello, today I saw the film about Violette on BBC-television and it struck me. Here in the Netherlands I had never heard of her before and now I feel ashamed about that. Of course, there were more people who have dared their lives at risk to promote the freedom of us all. But the story of Violette shows us what it is to be really brave. I will never forget her now.

Ever since I was a child I have known the story of Violette. I have had the book "Carve her name with pride" for over twenty years and I always try to watch the film when it comes on and although of course I know the story and the outcome I always hope that the ending changes - silly me. What an incredible woman your mother was Tania. She would have been very proud of you for detailing her life in the way you have as would your father. I look forward to reading your book.

I remember as a young boy seeing the film "Carve her name" and thinking to myself , could i ever be that brave. A remarkable woman, courage, tenacity , loyalty and bravery. the film was on again this afternoon and i think is worthy of a remake for our younger generation to understand exactly how our parents and our parents parents lived and what they faced. My eyes were filled.
