Comments So good to see something good being done to the area. Last time I visited,school was half torn down. I think autorium was all still standing. My whole elem.years were spent at Ft Hawkins. I even lived on grounds now occupied by the Ochmulge Park. Ft Hawkins & Indian Mounds were my childhood life. Looking forward for a homecoming.

Comments email address has changed sense my comment I have a great desire to visit my old homeplace but was told it had been taken over by the park & torn down. Also was told school also gone Am glad at least the park & fort still there. All was part oh my childhood so was the railway. Is it still there?I know Nancy Hank has been gone. I left in '58 & now not able to travel. Wonder if I could get someone to take some pictures of where all was including the ball field. the mill. clubhouse,& auditorium.? The house set back little from where the 2 chinaberry trees were. Cataba tree was on side facing Drakes Field. Elm trees & plum trees across field in front. Wonder if any are still growing there. I think the well was filled in. Can someone share all this info either on line or to my email.? Blackberries,plums, muskedines grew abundetly around there even was 1 pomgranette tree & many beautiful wild flowers.

Comments I have been reading the history of this wonderful man, and I encourage everyone to visit the fort and see for yourself how he was loved by the Indian Nations here and in North Carolina.
