ETC. My husband proposed to me during one of your sets at ETC. We were regulars and fell in love to your music. We even brought a group after our wedding reception months later. Your son worked for a friend of mine in Westwood and that secured us backstage to meet you at the Roxy years later. The husband is gone, the cities have changed but standing listening to another singer perform ..."grits ain't groceries....." at Stanford jazz last week, I couldn't wait to call my friend and say..."remember when we saw Maxine?" She sent me the web site and I just had to check it. Love, love, love your music....

Amidst all these old friends and fans, I'm a new one. I never heard your name until recently when I pulled "Chilly Wind" out of a bin of records for no reason. When I got it home and played it, I knew what the reason was: you're a terrific, gutsy, soulful singer. Everything about that album is just wonderful -- the songs, the arrangements, and especially your gorgeous voice. I'm a fan for life.

O the first time I heard you at the ECT Club in Hollywood you sent me to the moon. When you sang Run To Me When Ever Your Lonely is was so different and wonderful. You may remember one night when someone had the nerve to be talking loudly while you were singing and when she got up to go to the power room my date went right after her into that power room and told her off saying while she was singing at a club in Florda she stopped the show and ordered someone talking while she sang to leave. She said she never played Florda but she did and she didn't go back to her seat but left the club. You heard about it and thanked my guest. We came back to see you when ever you were singing at the ETC. Years later I ran into you at a clients condo in Hollywood, Mr. Gagosian, and you said you remembered me sitting up front many nights, and I told you I had all your LP's which you said you didn't. Maxine I remember you when I was kid, you knew the Buckinghams in Stockton, CA and you spent a day at my parents' house. You took me to Tower Records and got me your albums and an early Qunicy Jones record that shaped my view of music forever. I remember we viste dyou in Socal and say you at the ETC club and you ttok me to a palce called Hamburger Heaven and to a salon on top of a bulding. Long time ago, about 1974 I think. I even rememeber the lovely carved cabinet that was on your album was in your home. Well I still have your signed albums and have enjoyed your music and sweetness all these decades later!
