Comments My father brought our family to Marinelandofthepacific several times over the years when my brother & I were young. Much less corporate feel. Much more learning environment. Really miss it.

Comments Hi - I want to share how my family enjoyed going to Marineland during the 10 years between 1967 and 1977 that we lived in Glendora, CA. I was of the ages 4-14 yrs, and in my memory is forever the image of petting a dolphin in a large above-ground pool, and remembering how soft and spongy it was, and not hard and plastic like I though it was going to be! We fed them little fish from what looked like a french fry container. I remember the Japanese ladies diving in the in-ground pool for oysters which contained pearls. I have a lot of memories of Marineland, and I actually still have old stuffed toys from there, one is a dolphin, and one is a whale, both have the Marineland tags on them. I can send pics to you if you'd like. They are still in excellent shape. If you have a museum I'd be glad to send them to you. I also remember Japanese Deer Park, and I have a little tray from there that says Japanese Deer Park on it. Thanks for having this website and preserving the memory of Marineland!! Danielle Wolters

Comments One of the biggest disapointments in my life is that I never got to visit Marineland - although I did make countless visits to its sister oceanarium in Florida.

Comments Went to Marineland in '56, '81 and '86. It saddens me to know it's gone. Even though I was only 5 years old the first time I visited, I have several fond memories,(including an unbelievably large grouper), and in '81 was able to experience the Baja Reef. I am happy to know that the history of it is being preserved. Respectfully, and with best wishes, Scott Schenkel Dallas, TX

Comments I worked at Marineland the summer of 1973. I was a mermaid that swam in the giant fish tank and later looked for my lost earring in the killer whales mouth. I used to play with Corky, when no one was around, and spray her with water. I would watch the Corky and Orky squirt water at the same spot on the side to the tank, so that the paint pealed, and then the painters had to come and repaint it. They wanted company and loved it when you played with them. When I came back for a Rose Bowl in 1977 Corky came over and waved her fin at me. Made me realize she remembered me. Loved those guys.

Comments I have memories of going to Marineland in 7th grade with my dad, who's company was building the large tanks. I stayed all day there numerous times while he worked, bringing a girlfriend w/me to pass the time. We had a blast!

Comments I remember back in the 60s my parents made reservations at the on ground hotel for our stay. Was excited on the drive from San Diego, what would I see? Walking through the gates I was so impressed by what I saw in the huge tank. So many different fish, so much going on. Bubbles, the Pilot whale, was doing acts and could be watched through underwater windows. I had a great time interacting with all the fish/displays. Back at the room, it over looked the ocean, steep grassy slopes going down to the ocean. For a city kid this was one awesome trip. Memories.

Comments I was here in 1960, 9 years old on the family vacation from Dallas, TX . It stands out in my memory right up there with Disneyland...maybe more so since marine life has always fascinated me. Kind of sad to know it's not still there.

Comments One of the biggest disappointments in my life is that I never got to visit Marineland of the Pacific. I have made over 100 visits to Florida's Marineland but it is only through books, pictures and correspondence with Marineland personnel such as Clyde Tussey that I knew Marineland. Marineland of the Pacific will go down in history as a part of Americana like baseball and apple pie.

Comments I am so excited that I found your site. I grew up in the Los Angeles area and made frequent visits to Marineland growing up. My husband and I went there almost every month while we were dating and even took our baby daughter there several times. We were devastated when it was closed. I still remember when Orky died. So sad. Sorry, this is probably not what you wanted for comments but you bring back great memories of the 70's and early 80's for me. Thanks!

Comments I remember going to Marineland as a kid in the early 80s for a school field trip. It was one of my earliest memories of going to school, and of learning about marine life. I remember how beautiful the area was too. I was sad to hear about the park closing.
