Used to go all the time, I remember the hydrofoil boat ride and the plastic injected sea animals that you made right in front of yourself. The show and the aquariums. Bring back the 60's.

Oh, yes. Fond memories of Marineland. Dad took us there nearly every year, since it had opened in '54. My last visit was in '86. And yes, it is sad that Marineland is now only a fond memory. A most perfect setting for such a venue. Heck, more than perfect ! The ocean, the ocean breeze, the drive to Marineland. The memories are coming back. But memories will never die.

I grew up in the Palos Verdes area and visited Marineland many times. What a wonderful place it was. At one time I thought I might even go into Oceanography :) Looking over your site brings back a lot of wonderful memories … and I'm learning new things too! Thanks.

I have many happy memories of Marineland! We would go at least twice a month when I was a child. I was so sad and angry when it was closed. Your site brings back those happy memories! Thank you!

In August 1965, I was one of 21 boys who had won an IT A food store contest for a week in LA. We stayed in the hotel Laffet (spelling not right it is French). We were all from northern nys. We visited angles stadium for a game, knotty berry farm, Disneyland, went to the beach a few blocks of the hotel, and Marineland. I was 12 at the time. We flew air France from montreal, Canada to Chicago, then flew United to LA. My first time in a 707. I'm 63 now lol.

I visited Marineland of the Pacific in June, 1968, when I was twelve years old. It was a wonderful place. Sorry it is no longer with us.

I know I've been to Marineland many many years ago when I was a child. And sadly I don't remember much about it, I was too young.

Remember going as a child and always leaving with a wax mold-a-rama figure of the park, bubbles or the dolphin show displays. It was a great place.

Does any one remember "Winny the Whale with the Detachable Tail"? As a child, I was brought to Marineland to view an "exhibit" of a pilot whale whose tail had been severed by a boat or ship. "Winny was displayed in a large tank of formaldehyde, I believe, while the people walked by. Sad.

Wish I could post a picture of my click toy slide viewer that looks like a miniature TV. With slides of the attractions that were Marineland.

I loved Marineland as a child. It was a great place to visit. I was so saddened to see it go. Thankfully at least three of the animals (the last time I went) are still doing well at Sea World in SD.

My first Job was working at Marineland around 1970. I think it was tending the slide at $1.65 per hour. I worked as an usher at the shows and then in the tower and finally selling tickets for a number of summers. At the time I lived up in Portuguese Bend and rode my bicycle to work on a regular basis. I remember coming in early and attempting to walk the "low wire" over the shark tank one summer. Never did make it across. I think the low wire artist was named Ortani. Also remember they had cliff divers going off a 100 foot platform into the dolphin pool one summer. We got enthused by this and used to go down to the pier and jump off the roof of the shack into the ocean before work. It seemed like about 30ft and got the adrenalin going. My hazy perception is that it was during the 70's that it became more of an entertainment venue than an oceanarium. I recall that 20th Century Fox acquired Marineland and brought in Irwin Allen (Poseidon Adventure and Towering Inferno) to turn the park around. However, the accelerating maintenance co

We lived in Whittier from 1955 to 1959 and as a young boy I remember the visits to Marineland. I was sad to learn it was no more. I fondly remember Bubbles and have some B&W photos as keepsakes.

I miss Marineland so much.It now is just a distant memory from my childhood. I wish there was a way to bring it back so I could show my daughter who is in love with sea animals.
