Comments I was born in Spokane but am ignorant of the ways and the hearts and the wishes of the Spokane Tribe. I would like to learn the Language of the Spokane Tribe but I am disabled and have some roadblocks to learning. But I would like to try to learn. If I cannot learn the language perhaps I can learn the true history of the Spokane First Americans.

Comments Saw article in the paper on the school. Jimbo Seyler sent me this link. Wonder if the school/students might be interested in learning about how to use tools like Google Maps and Street View/Google VR to preserve and teach about Salish heritage, culture, and language. Make it a good day.

Comments Thanks so much for all of the valuable materials. Col/Ok is a beautiful language. In captižkʷɬ volume 1, the first story, the sentence, sn̓k̓lips xÚlits iʔ sn̓man̓xʷtn̓s. in the narrative does not appear on the recording, but is skipped over.

Comments I am looking to come home to BC once I complete an HBSW degree...and am interested in serving in First nations/Aboriginal communities, (my matrilineal bloodline is undo #$@%! Metis, but BC is all I've ever called home.) To that end, I am looking to acquire coast Salish language skills. Is there a resource out there to do that by distance education? (It will take me another year and a half before I can come home.) Your help and advice would be greatly appreciated; thank you, Dan

Comments So happy to see this tutorial on the web! Thank you for sharing this valuable information. My grandmother's mother passed away when she was just a girl. She did not learn much of her native language and as a result, could not pass it down to her children and grandchildren. Two generations have passed with no spoken native language in my family and I had feared that it was lost forever until I found you on the web. We are Bitteroot rather than Colville. Even though they are probably different dialects, I am still thrilled to see Salish being taught to new generations. Keep up the good work! This information is so valuable. I am teaching my daughter now.
