Comments Would enjoy a tour of the store and surrounding area. Very interested in coal mining, C&O Railway, and Virginian Railway history. What you are preserving is a very important part of local and national history that few people know and appreciate.

Comments This is one of my favorite places to go! The first time I visited was on my senior trip in 2011 and I have been almost every year since. I have never been on a tour and not learned something new! I am amazed at the changes that have been made thus far and cannot wait to see what the future holds for Whipple! A big thank you to Lynn and everyone else that has been involved with restoring Whipple and giving the tours!!

Comments We visited the Whipple Company Store in October 2013. We have traveled to historic sites in every state of the Union but never have we been to a place more interesting, fascinating, sad and making us wanting more information. Joy gave us so much info in the time we were there and took time to answer all our questions. I just purchased the book Dead Ringer to obtain more information on Coal History in WV. After visiting the Whipple Company Store we drove the Heritage Coal Trail using the Ipad to study each town as we drove thru. Even if history isn’t your passion, do not miss the tour at the Whipple Store. You will not be disappointed.

Comments We visited your store on a recent trip to WV and were amazed at the wealth of historical information learned from the visit and tour of the Whipple Store. Our 30 minute tour lasted about 2 hours and we could have stayed all day and listened to the stories of life in the coal mining towns of WV. We are interested in the books that you are publishing and wondering if they are available for purchase yet? If so, how do we go about ordering copies? I'm not sure of the title but I believe you had 2 about to be published. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to the preservation of the store. We hope you find the right partner to preserve this valuable piece of American history.

Comments My Son and grandchildren visited the Whipple Company Store in April 2012, we had a wonderful time learning the History of the Store, my Father-in-Law was a Coal Miner and his Father before him. I have been doing Genealogy since 1975 and this gave me a better perspective of what my husbands Ancestors lived through being coal miners. My husbands Ancestors Bragg/Johnson, were from the Scarbro, Minden, Concho, Rock Lick and various area's of Fayette County. The kind lady there at Whipple Company Store was very informative and treated us very well. The Tour was very educational. My grandchildren will never forget their trip. And I as well hope to go back again.

Comments Just reading on the Oak Hill site and seen a post about store. I had no idea it was there. I was born in Oak Hill, Collins class of 1974 (if I had finished there) and love history of the area. Thanks!! I am sure my family that lives in Oak Hill area has been there but when I am in town visiting next year you will be on my list of things to do. Beautiful building!! Take care.

Comments I look forward to seeing your store. From the 40's through the early 70's, my dad was manager at the company stores in Big Sandy, Carbondale, Kingston and Longacre. In the mid 60's I worked at the company store in Harewood pumping gas for the coal miners. I have many fond memories of time with Dad at the Longacre store.
