There are very few days that go by that Mike doesn't still come to mind. I still constantly hear "Mike-isms" in my head. Wonderful man and an even better mentor...I still miss him. Jim 334 538 2116

This e-mail is intended for Evonne Stevenson-Schott. My name is David Dierker and I am the Director of Athletics for the Cincinnati Public Schools. We have an annual induction in the CPS Athletic Hall of Fame and your late husband has been voted into membership in the Posthumous category. As you know, he graduated from Western Hills H.S. in 1966 and went on to play in college at Ohio University. He will be inducted into the Hall of Fame in April, 2014 at a banquet held at Cincinnati's Paul Brown Stadium. I was wondering if you could refer me to any local living relatives that might be able to help with stats, etc. from his high school career. We will also need someone to accept the award on his behalf at the banquet...any help you could provide would be most appreciated. Hope to talk with you soon. My phone number is 513-363-0410 My e-mail is dierked@cps-k12.org

Evoone, I just wanted to say Hi and to let you know I think about Mike often. He taught me a great deal in the time we worked together. I will always remember his phone calls and he would always ask about my boys He made a tremendous impression on me and he made a better person for it. Wishing you and your family well. I have read your book and found it so similar to my life with my husband, Tom. He died on April 30, 2012 from a rare form of cancer called leiomyosarcoma. He lived 3 1/2 years and endured so many surgeries, chemo, radiation...he was the most amazing man. I am looking for support to help me understand and accept his death. He would have been 60 years of age on September 17, 2012 and we would have celebrated our 9th Wedding Anniversary on October 4th. I also am looking for ways to volunteer to keep me busy and to pay it forward... I believe my Husband would be proud of me if I could help other people.

I LOVE this book. You are so brave. And helpful. I was caregiver for my parents for many years. It was stressful but rewarding and you just do it for those you love. Like your last water bottle of Mike's I have the empty box that held my Dad's last birthday cake and empty last kleenex box and juice container of my Mom's. They've been gone 4 and 5 years. The pain of their passing is still there but more tolerable. I am grieving in my own time and in my own way which may be very different than everyone else. I bought your book at the Writer's Conference at the War Memorial yesterday, finished all but 7 pages last night and the rest this morning. I'm so sorry for your loss but I'm glad you are sharing your experience 'cause it is helping others so much. Thank you!

I worked with Mike at Arizona Beverages until our Michigan office closed. He is the only boss I ever had that truly impressed me. Multi-tasking was an art in Mike's life. While at Arizona he needed 2 Administrative Assistants just to keep up with the pace that he set. He was and still is someone that I adnire.

evonne congratulations on the book. hansens sure misses mike or should i say i miss mike and what he represented as a man, coach, and the real deal. a lot of posers in business. he was the the antithesis. totally underappreciated by those who couldn't handle the truth re a real work ethic and an attitude unlike any of I've been associated with in 48 yrs of the beverage business. you are an excellent example of what mike represented with your efforts in completing your book. pls visit us when you come to california. love to your parents and boys.

Hello Evonne, Mike was my 1st cousin (his Mom Dolly and my mother Ollie were sisters). Barb called me today and in our quite extensive conversation she told me about your book. I ordered a copy and look forward to reading it. Barb and I have arranged to keep in touch after too many years corresponding through our Aunt Pearl. God bless you for all you did for Mike and continued success in your set goal in helping others. Jeanette

Thank you for the reminder about the book! I am Jessica Stratton's mom (one of Mike's nurses from 5E at Beaumont). I think she will LOVE this as a Christmas gift. Continued blessings to you and your work with the Hermelin Brain Tumor Center. I am a former patient of Dr. Rosenblum and my brother in law was a patient of Dr. Mikkelson and Dr. Malik. We know Mike is smiling down on you :).

I knew Mike during his very short stint with Nantucket Nectars, I was new to the beverage business and working in the detroit/Michigan Market. Mike changed the course of my life and miss him and his guidance very much. I did not speak to him during the time of his illness and it is one of my true regrets. Mike was a living legend and a man I will never forget for the positive impact he had on my life and so many others.

No one reading this will know me. My older brother graduated from Western Hills High School with Mike Schott in 1966. I actually knew Mike from hanging around the football team with my Dad who was the team doctor. I have two memories of Mike. I remember a football game in which Mike was playing right cornerback and the opposing team kept throwing short receptions in the "flat" in front of Mike. The coach pulled Mike aside and told him to see if he could brake up the pass that he thought would be coming on third down. Mike did better than that he broke on the ball just as the quarterback was releasing the pass and intercepted the ball in full stride. Mike ran 60 yards down the right sideline untouched for a game changing interception and touchdown. I remember him coming back to the sidelines where I heard him tell my Dad that both his calf muscles had cramped up he had run so hard. The 2nd thing I remember was Mike cutting grass for my best friends Dad. The grass was on a very hilly area and my friends father hired Mike to cut it bec

Uncle Mike, Our bond, was greater than Uncle to Nephew. It was Blood to Blood, Friend to Friend, Mentor to Apprentice, and then everything else just fell in line. You hitch-hiked from Harvard to watch me be born just oustide of Detroit. You gave me work in Hudepohl-Schoenling during Summers to keep me straight. You let me pick your brain while I was in college and trying to figure it out, and you always called to see if Monster had hit stores yet, and what could you do better. Advise well taken I see!! ;) You came to see us to have a brat and a beer !! You Were there when Nana Died, Strong, Never forget your strength for mom in those days. Then, I got the call from mom that you had a brain tumor, and I knew. It took everything I had to talk to you that night before surgery. We both broke down, when I told you I loved you. That was One of the hardest moments in my life. I thought that was it. But we had a little more time... I sat third row at your funeral, and kept quiet, as your son, delivered a beautiful Eulogy. To

Evonne, I know that today will be a hard day for you and your family. It is also my brother's birthday, but I definitely thought about Mike. He was one of my most memorable patients and I send the most positive and healing thoughts your way. I see you are working on a book, best of luck! Jess (Beaumont Nurse)
