I respect the commodores and what they do and was so pleased to see them in the Emonds 4th of July parade. But I appalled at a small party afterwards when one them used the term "jewed down". I know that he did not intend offense but it is an extremely offensive term. When I tried gently to ask him not to use it in the future he apologized and said he had not know that I was Jewish. That is so not the point. I would like some sort of reassure that commodores at least have enough sense not make remarks offensive to any local group, even if a member of that group is not present.

Hello, I am a Seattle Seafair fan for many years, I have been trying to contact the Seafair Commodores about an old award that I found at a garage sale from 1986, I would like to return it to its rightful owner, Steve Howard. I haven't noticed anything regarding the events I believe that were held in 1949.As a very young girl and as a guest of Mayor & Mrs. Devin, I watched my father, Quentin Herwig, attired in Captain Puget attire being rowed into shore surrounded by Fire Boats so that he could hand over the Key to the City to the waiting queen. It was truly a very memorable event for me as it was also the very year prior to the beginning of Seafair.

Last week we all lost a member of our extended family and we are especially sad you have lost one of your own. We have all learned one of the reasons we volunteer to serve is the special friends and extended families we gather along the way. JB Webster was one of those friends. JB had the ability to make friends and make one feel special after just a short time with him. One such story that I wished to share with all of you was the effect he had on one of our Pirates. After speaking with him on occasion JB directed one fellow to join our ranks back in 2001. That conversation not only lead to that pirate joining but he brought along a life long friend with him. That friend is Captain Kidd 2009-2010. You never know the effect you will have on people until you extend that hand and JB was the Master. He will be missed by all of us. On behalf of all the Seafair Pirates we are sorry for your loss and we wish JB Fair Winds and smooth sailing on his next journey.
