Comments I was talking to my young sons today about my time at school and was remembering my old days at St. Lucas Lutheran School and my favorite teacher there. I decided to look her up and sure enough Miss Hafemeister is teaching at your school! Miss Hafemeister was also my grade school cheerleading coach those 25 years ago. Just wanted to say thank you for being a teacher I still think of years later. Having kids now I can fully appreciate what it takes to be an understanding, caring teacher now! Peace and Love, Jeni Watzka :)

Comments More about Stille Nacht -- I see I was wrong about "Traue" in Nur das traue hochheilige Paar. It doesn't mean faithful. It means intimate or cozy. Don't blame my mother! -- she probably assumed I knew that, and I just thought it was like "true, faithful." I found a website that has all the original verses -- there are lots more than three -- /www.stillenacht.at/en/text_and_music.asp. So that's all I know about Stille Nacht.

Comments In the Lambs to Lions newsletter there is a question about the two versions of Stille Nacht. This is what my mother told me: The last four lines are different. The original was "Nur das traute hochheilige Paar; Holder Knabe im lockigen Haar, Schlaf' in himmlischer Ruh! Schlaf' in himmlischer Ruh'!" Traute hochheilige Paar is "faithful, very holy couple." I guess they thought the hochheilige (very holy) elevated Mary and Joseph too much. Holder Knabe im lockigen Haar is "Lovely boy with curly hair." Apparently they didn't like the curly hair. "Schlaf' in himmlischer Ruh,'" of course, is "Sleep in heavenly peace." Nobody objected to that, but they had to change it so it would make sense with the other lines. I hope somebody finds this interesting.

Comments I thought I would check up on what my little brother (Fred -your principal) is up to. Congratulations on a great website and your recent building project. It's nice to see that St Mark's is thriving. My wife and I live in central New York in an area very similar to the Watertown area. Chuck Uttech NW Prep '63

Comments I have thoroughly enjoyed looking at the pictures of the NEW St. Marks Lutheran school. I remember not so long ago (chuckle) when we raised the old school. The new addition at that time was well received. Now this one is really excellent and will last us a long time. My 2 grandaughters go to St. Marks and they really love it. I have loved St. Marks for a long time and I am happy to be back in the fold. Thank you all!

Comments St. Mark's means a lot to me as a former student. I just graduated from an excellent school that trained me not just in classes, but also in God's Word. It's a shame I couldn't be in this school after the new building, but I'm excited for the students that will enjoy this much need upgrade in the future years.
