Someone from my mantra group recommended your website and said that you have a special way of making/re-stringing/handling malas. I checked out your website and I see that you sell freshwater pearl malas. I would ask you to reconsider this: I am a biologist in the USA in the Midwest (Ohio), and traditionally we had large numbers of freshwater mussels in this area. Due to overharvesting this number has dropped, and many freshwater mussel species are now on the USFWS threatened and endangered species list. There is an illegal harvesting and trading of these threatened and endangered freshwater mussels in Ohio and surrounding states, that further threatens the freshwater mussel population in this area. In addition, because some states allow legal harvesting of mussels, it is very very difficult to catch people who are illegally taking freshwater mussels in areas where they are rare.
