Comments I just put on a book signing about an amazing veterinarian and friend who passed away. A late friend had been with Olympic team in 1964 and pan am games, and I mentioned to Author about her. Margaret "Peggy " Seabrook Ellsaesser, my wonderfully riding buddy, was somehow connected to the Countess that your family is named after. I think the Countess had something to do with Peg working with Olympic team, sh was a groom for Michael Page and "Grasshopper". Peg and her husband are buried at Port-a-Ferry. I don't know if you knew Peg but she had some amazing stories, planned knee surgery around riding time, never complained ( rode with broken wrist for 4 hours), I just wished I had asked more questions and taken notes. I came across your website when I was looking for a copy of the Countess book, which would make an amazing movie (with right director). And what a grand program you have!

Comments Hello! I came across your website and we are always looking for fun places to ride and experience. I am looking for a place to do a little cross country schooling with my draft cross Wyatt who was a trail master search and rescue horse converted into a potential future eventer. There aren't many places on the olympic peninsula to gain this experience as a rider, certified instructor, trainer type. I hold my own insurance etc. I am wondering if the park is open for riders? Comments I owned the Hungarian horse Magyar Betyar, out of Magyar Jutka. I purchased him from Marshall Gray. The Gray family also owned M. Jutka, M. Baro, M. Babikom, M. Patjas,and perhaps others. Mrs. Corrine Gray wrote about Countess Gurky's story in a series that was published in the Northeast Horseman magazine in 1967. The magazine is no longer published, but I have photocopies of some of the articles. Mrs. Gray's daughter Lendon Gray may have access to her mother's articles. I found the story fascinating, and always thought that my Magyar was a very special horse.
