Me and my family went to visit the Metcalfe ranch. My mom and dad were friends with Howard and his wife. They all square danced together. I also met Augusta Metcalfe in her art studio, she was painting a picture. Howard started telling us the story of antelope hillsl He said that a family of settlers had retreated to the top of the mesa hill. There they held off an indian attack for 21 days. After that the indians left and the family could flee to safety. It wasn't clear what tribe it was.
