Comments One year, during a very hot summer ACTS Retreat at LaSalle, the electric shut down due to an overloaded system...Brother Marvin quickly grabbed a pair of pliers and a screwdriver and said "come with me out back, I know what the problem is...", so I accompanied him outside to the electrical box on the back wall, and he started poking inside it at all kinds of things with the screwdriver...at this point I'm raising my voice with him to stop because I'm having visions of him getting blown from the back of the building up the hill to the grotto if he touches the wrong thing with that screwdriver...obviously he had greater faith than me (go figure), as he quickly fixed the problem...and taught me a lesson or two about faith! God bless you Brother Marvin for all you have done for all of us ACTS retreatants!

Comments A man of God who always made me feel so loved. I remember once, while working on a stone patio, I looked up to see Br. Marvin running down the hill towards me and my husband just to say hi and talk for awhile! He never let you work too long without wanting you to rest inside with some great food! One 4th of July we sat on the ground by the cemetery grotto and ate BBQ. I am so thankful for many great memories. God truly blessed me with the friendship of Br. Marvin!

Comments I feel sadness that the next ACTS Retreat I go to, Brother Marvin won't physically be there to share the history of LaSalle or to share his wonderful smile with each of us, but I am so happy that he is with our Lord and having a LaSalle reunion with all of the friends and brothers he met along his journey. I know that each of us who continue to visit LaSalle through various ministries will always feel his love and spirit in the breeze as we walk the grounds of his beloved LaSalle.

Comments Brother Marvin helped calm my nerves as a retreat director. As I sat in the chapel early Friday morning he asked if all was OK. I replied that I had some concerns for the weekend. Brother Marvin reminded me we were on Holy Ground and the Holy Spirit was present; the weekend would be wonderful. Just those few moments calmed my nerves and the weekend was amazing.

Comments Brother Marvin is the face of LaSalle. When I think of Being up on the Mountain and in a Holy Place, what a better an more holy of a man one could see there is Brother Marvin. I know he will here those wonderful words from God, that I hope to hear when I enter the gates of heaven, "Well Done my Good and Faithful Servant, Well Done." He has shown the face of Christ to so many youths in his day but most of all so many of us men. Brother Marvin you will be missed but I know you will still be with all of us as we visit that Holy Place up on the Mountain called LaSalle. We love you and we miss you already and God has welcomed you home now.
