Armstrong file possible corrections Dear Virgin Island Families! Mrs. Elizabeth Ferrall identified an Elizabeth Armstrong grand daughter in her 1773 will while also identifying a living daughter Elizabeth Crequi and minor Crequi grandchildren. Thus there was an Elizabeth Markoe married to Crequi and an Elizabeth Markoe married to Armstrong in 1773. . Due to the Armstrongs taking over the Peter Markoe Jr property in Northside Quarter A it is logical to assume the wife of Thomas Jr,. was the Elizabeth Armstrong identified in her grandmother's will and also in the 1765 will of Peter Markoe Jr where an Elizabeth is identified as his daughter. Conclusion: Elizabeth (Markoe) Crequi born ca. 1732 did not marry Thomas Armstrong Jr. Elizabeth (Markoe) Armstrong born ca 1750 was daughter of Peter Markoe Jr born ca 1722 and unknown wife. In the traditional histories the family of Peter Markoe Jr. is never identified (not even mentioned). His will has been found and clearly shows he had at least five children - some of whom

Fantastic site; what a lot of hard work. Congratulations. Have found the following: The Boysen/Boyle files seem mixed up. When you search for Boyle, Boysen open.

My great grandfather Jorge Gordon Westerband imigrated to Puerto Rico in the mid 1860's. He listed himself as born in St. Thomas or St. Croix. Would appreciate any help in tracing my ancestors.

Regarding Flynn file, according to descendants of this line a Robert Flynn had a relationship with Susannah Markoe. I could not confirm the relationship but census records confirm she had several Flynn children, one of which, Louisa, was living household of Isaac and Margaret Markoe [sic Markec] 1860, Frederiksted. Susannah could be sister or other kin of Isaac Markoe. Susannah was born ca 1832.

With my wife I visited St Croix January 24-26 this year in the hope of finding anything related to ancestors who were known to have lived there. With the aid of Mrs Rickie Marshall at the library in Christiansted I found interesting new information, most of it compiled by Svend E Holsoe in Virgin Island Families. (Maybe you are reading this, mr Holsoe?) For instance the name and location of the Heitmanns´plantation Frederikshaab, which we also visited. I am interested in the history of the families Heitmann, Zimmermann and de Fine Olivarius, and I may also be able to make a few contributions.

This is a great project; thanks for your efforts. I just learned about three more levels on my family tree. I have some specific information, derived from baptismal certificates from St. Patrick's Church in Fredericksted, concerning three children of Anthony and Louisa Phelan. Margret Phelan - baptismal certificate names her as Mary (but US Census of 1900 lists her as Margaret); born, Sept. 14, 1848; baptized, Jan. 7, 1849; sponsors: Miss H. Carden and C. McEvoy. Mary L. Phelan - baptismal certificate names her as Marie Louisa; born, Apr. 7, 1850; baptized, Jun. 9, 1850; sponsors not listed. Charles Anthony Phelan (my great-grandfather) - born, Feb. 26, 1852; baptized, April 14, 1852; sponsors, Peter McEvoy and Mary Louise Doute. If you would like me to e-mail you copies of the documents, please let me know.

I was so excited to find this site, but Adobe Reader won't let me see anything but the names. I don't know what that means. I sure hope I can find out what to do. My relatives were Teales, Lavicounts and Krauses. They were sugar plantation owners and managers in the late 1700's and early 1800's. I wonder if any of the French families on those islands were related to the Teales. My triple great grandmother Marie Antoinette Lacroixsade (similar spelling)was married to Martin Goble Teale somewhere on those islands and I believe she was even born on one of them---St. Martin Fr Ot--- Jody
