Done the deed 1964 R801091 had 29 years away 27 with the Royal Fleet Auxiliary and 20 years on the Oil Rigs Loved the Sea as a Cook. Cruise a lot now see how the other half lives.

I was a "Vindi Boy" in October,1943. Course was "Catering".I was looking on the "Web" and did a search on TS Vindicatrix, much to my surprise your Web site showed up!!I left the sea in 1948, my home port was Liverpool.Looking at the information on your site, brought back a lot of memories.

I was a Catering Boy in Hut 1 from 12th June-21st July 1961. My Discharge Book No. was R753573,but can't remember any surnames from my squad. I went to sea as an AB until 1999 and sailed with some great guys, and would like to contact any of them, if possible.

I was based at the 'Vindy'in February 1957 on a deckboy course, completed sucessfully.I come across this sight by accident, think I'll join although my memory is'nt good. I found my written exersise work from them days and it still impresses me today! The officers of the day were : Captain Duguid,1st.Mr.Scott,2nd.Mr.Wright Chief instructor,Mr.Brown, Camp governor,Mr.Strange, Chief steward,Mr.Francombe,Chief cook, Mr.Seal and Sister Gray. I gave the Sister some work because I started a tattooing service for 'baccy' and she had a few septic arms to deal with. Because of the lack of food I got myself confirmed at the nearby cathedral by the Bishop as we got extra rations when we returned to the camp! I finished my sea going career after a few trips around the world and joined the London Fire Brigade in my twenties. Now retired I sail my 'Tideway' dinghy around the Blackwater estuary weather permitting and other venues. I wish I could remember older names and faces but I will never forget the Vindicatrix God bless her.

I served on the Vindicatrix 4th March to 26th April 1963. On a Catering Course my Record Book is R785477. After that I sailed from Liverpool on the 3rd May 1963 for 3 months in South America on the S S Cotopaxi for PSNC. Then on for 5 more years with different companies. proud vindi boy, deck 1943 was a bewildered lad then.Born in Glasgow. 1926. lived in Ireland wexford.now as resident in NZ for 57 years, left the sea 57 years ago.had a good life.is there any old Vindi boys of 84 years still out and about? keep up the grand work Robin, you are a god send,to all of us.Will be marching here on Anzac day 25/April under the red ensign

I have been looking at photos of vindi boys. I was a vindi boy in Oct 1943 I don't recollect wearing any uniform. Would that be correct. R300922 deck boy.i am sure I was in civvies all of my three months on the ship. I was also told that all the spare film was used by the R. A F. In those days. No class photo

I am looking to contact anyone who might have served with and trained with my father R658840 William Cleary . Was at the Vindi January 1962 did a 14 week course (on deck) as got the Vindi flue 2 weeks in sick bay.Spent lot of time on jankers joined the boxing was able to get off jankers as boxing came first.
