Brother Msrvin was an amazing monk. A true craftsman, smart enought to insure Glencoe's water supply, and able to make a vistor feel welcome in an instant. A "working" brother in a true sense of the word. Thanks for all that you have done

A man of God who always made me feel so loved. I remember once, while working on a stone patio, I looked up to see Br. Marvin running down the hill towards me and my husband just to say hi and talk for awhile! He never let you work too long without wanting you to rest inside with some great food! One 4th of July we sat on the ground by the cemetery grotto and ate BBQ. I am so thankful for many great memories. God truly blessed me with the friendship of Br. Marvin!

Brother Marvin is the face of LaSalle. When I think of Being up on the Mountain and in a Holy Place, what a better an more holy of a man one could see there is Brother Marvin. I know he will here those wonderful words from God, that I hope to hear when I enter the gates of heaven, "Well Done my Good and Faithful Servant, Well Done." He has shown the face of Christ to so many youths in his day but most of all so many of us men. Brother Marvin you will be missed but I know you will still be with all of us as we visit that Holy Place up on the Mountain called LaSalle. We love you and we miss you already and God has welcomed you home now.

Dear Brother Marvin, Although it is late after you have already returned to our Lord home, I just like say a thank you on the behalf of our family, a group of Vietnamese refugees landing at the Stritch Hall next to the Christian Brother College back in 1975 after many months that we almost perished on high sea of the South China Sea by the miraculous hand of God and Virgin Mary. You have extended to us your warmest welcome and brotherly love to fearful newcomers and you helped bring out the best of us with your true love touching. My mom often reminded us about your sense of humor that made us laugh and feel good about life. She already passed away last year at 99 years of age and I am sure that you already met her now in heaven. So when you are up in heaven near Jesus and Mary, please continue bless us with your smile and love. With love in Christ but will miss you always until we meet again, Michael Quang Nguyen & Family A former FSC PS: Also, just like to share a recent appearance of the Holy Cross and Virgin Mary of

Brother Marvin is greatly missed. I will always remember his warm hospitality during my visits and reconnection with Glencoe. The Grotto he restored will have a special meaning for me now. Live Jesus in our hearts forever.

Brother Marvin's welcome to LaSalle and history of the facility was one of the best things about being at LaSalle. He was a wonderfully prayerful, kind and gentle man.

Well about 8 or 9 years ago I sat in the dining room to listen to one of Brother Marvin's presentations about LaSalle. He went through a list of things that they needed done, It seemed I could do most of what was mentioned. So I started to come out Every Friday to "volunteer". I became very impressed with his abilities, and inspired by his spirit. Which most already know, but most did not see his "streak". He could be very mischievousness, he and I played tricks and pranks on each other all the time. But to summarize, Brother Marvin was simply and truly a great man. I and so many will miss him, but for all to remember, he will always be resting at LaSalle now, and we all have the responsibility to carry his love for the place. Which is what he would request of us. He will be closely watching. And for those who know, he will be right there watching me cut the grass "Too Fast"

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul, and all the souls of the faithful departed, rest in peace. Amen. Thank you Brother Marvin for amazing hospitality and willingness to listen and to share the beauty of La Salle, as a High School student on retreat was the first time I discovered the beauty of LaSalle and Brother Marvin, not too many years later the grotto became a refuge for me and Brother Marvin was always willing to allow me the time to go to the grotto and sit and pray and reflect. Thank you Brother Marvin for allowing me the opportunity to many times experience the beauty of LaSalle and God's love and peace through you. God Bless you Brother Marvin.

Brother Marvin endeared himself to me initially during an ACTS Retreat in 2007. Such a delightful man, who was truly an ambassador for LaSalle with his historical talks and ambitions for improvements. A kind, gentle man of God who will be hugely missed. Rest in eternal peace dear friend.

As a young novice I had a horrible day. I got a truck stuck in the mud in the lower field, bent the spare tire holder of another truck trying to pull it out and knocked the door off the garage putting sway the "Big Cat" we had that I used to pull everything out - when I went to tell Bro. Marvin, I was so worried. He looked at me, smiled and said "Well I guess we know what you will be doing for the next few manual labor days" A quiet and gentle man.

One year, during a very hot summer ACTS Retreat at LaSalle, the electric shut down due to an overloaded system...Brother Marvin quickly grabbed a pair of pliers and a screwdriver and said "come with me out back, I know what the problem is...", so I accompanied him outside to the electrical box on the back wall, and he started poking inside it at all kinds of things with the screwdriver...at this point I'm raising my voice with him to stop because I'm having visions of him getting blown from the back of the building up the hill to the grotto if he touches the wrong thing with that screwdriver...obviously he had greater faith than me (go figure), as he quickly fixed the problem...and taught me a lesson or two about faith! God bless you Brother Marvin for all you have done for all of us ACTS retreatants!
