Hi Irene, thank you so much for your wonderful book, Shattered Dreams. I found the book very well written, insightful, and particularly inspiring in that you did not present such a bleak picture of your husband or your situation as you could have done. Your tolerance and patience is a joy and reminds me that religious faith gives us positive things as well as craziness. Your book particularly helped me in that I am a 29 year old woman who is still terrified of having children, and I have been trying to deal with this overwhelming fear for some years now. Your experiences have really helped me to put this into perspective and I am sure I will remember your story for the rest of my life. Respect!

God bless you, Irene! I am so glad to hear that you came to know God as He truly is, not as the Latter Day Saints believe Him to be. He is amazing and loving and provides perfect grace for our salvation. Thank goodness He died for us, right?! Now we can thankfully accept His sacrifice so we will not have to be sacrificed! May God truly bless you and continue to be with you and prosper for all your days!

Dear Aunt Irene, I read your book. Thanks for writing it, it will help many. It helped me understand my Mom better(your sister Becky the one mentioned in the book for others reading this). I've asked Mom about her childhood many times and didn't get much information. She said they were poor and there wasn't much to tell. She wasn't close to her Mom and didn't know her well. I never knew Grandma Olive ever remarried once she left Grandpa. I learned Mom dug a 14 ft. well with her Mom in a stort period of time for instance. I can easily believe it. She can be a very hard worker when she wants to and is very creative & handy like being able to make cabinets with drawers cut and measured perfectly and curved archways. My Mom & I made a curved archway between rooms in the spur of a moment one night and it turned out so nice. Your definately made of the same stock. She also has the same cheerfulness in the mist of difficulty that I see in you. Both fun loving. I would never have made a good sister wife. I can be a very hard worker but

Irene, Thank you for telling your story. I'm wondering what your relationship is like with your children who are in polygamous relationships. Are their experiences similar to yours or considerably different? Blessings to you as minister to hurting women throughout the world.

I heard you on XM radio this morning and wanted to tell you that I admire both your courage and your sense of humor. My favorite thing you said was you can get bitter or get better. Great advice for anyone. All my best. Tracy

Just finished your book. It was the fourth book I'd read on the topic of polygamy. Yours was the first to report on your current beliefs. As a born again myself, I cried when I read about your moment of salvation!!!!!!! I am so touched by your story - words cannot express. Thank you!

Hi, I heard you on an archived Coast to Coast show and I just wanted to say thank you so much for all you do. You are a true hero. You have helped many people break the chains of slavery of this sick "cult". I love you and what you do. Keep up the good work. Thank you so so very much for your work, and may you be very blessed Irene!!

I read your book over the weekend I couldn't put it down. You are so brave to share your story. I learned so much from the doctorine quotes. I shared your story with a unsaved friend who's life has been full of suffering. I pray your story will help heal her. Thank you for this gift and may God continue to bless you. Love Tonya

As you explained your joy and success (in that breathless nonstop speaking – you know what I mean and others will when they hear you) and told how many children and grandchildren you had then, your true enthusiasm filled the room and so moved one of the black gentlemen he pumped his fist in the air and shouted out “Go Granny Go!”, that brought down the rafters. Thank you for that memorable moment. I also want to thank you for the wonderful card you sent last December, it came at a very low point in my life and will be glued to the inside cover of your book for safe keeping. Love you and your precious, faithful Hector; I miss seeing you around Anchorage; come home sometimes and did you ever “Go Granny Go!”

Irene, you are even more amazing than I ever realized before. Of all the years I’ve known you, I never knew of the trials and adverse situations you dealt with in your earlier years. This now makes clear some of the statements I’ve heard you make in the nineties about how you never got to be involved in business or do public speaking, which were things you always dreamed of and recently had started doing. You always spoke of wanting to do something for your children, friends and others who needed a helping hand; now what a beautiful way this is going to afford you to accomplish that dream. I especially remember in the mid-nineties when we did some marketing together and you were so exciting and an inspiration to all of us. I will never forget one of your testimonials in a public presentation, so effective and moving, I must share it here. In a Sunday evening presentation, several members of a black congregation came to the marketing meeting direct from church. As you explained your joy and success (in that breathless nonstop

Irene, Thank you for sharing your story with the world. God definitely had plans for you and was waiting for you all along. I am so thankful that you and your children survived. I felt deep sorrow for you while reading your story, it truly did not seem possible for one person to deal with so much. You are an overcomer and should be very proud of yourself. I am thankful that the story ended with you coming to the Lord! I was hoping for that all along and I love the way that you shared that part - a true testimony. God Bless you and "may he give you back the years the locusts have eaten".

Dear Irene, I am enthralled with your book. Growing up Catholic, in the mid-west and married to 1 man (with only me for a wife) for 20 years, your experience seems unimaginable! You sound as though you are an amazing, tough and inspirational woman. I wish you the best of luck in all you do and look forward to possibly hearing you speak if you are ever in our area. Thank you for sharing your story.

I loved your book! I could not put it down. I look forward to reading more of your work. I keep going over and over in my mind about letting God guide you and finding peace when your finally submit to His will, rather than trying to do it all on your own or your own way. I have never heard that expressed quite the way you expressed it and it really makes sense to me now. It's definitely something to strive for. Thanks for putting your story into words.

Irene, as the deer panteth for water so your soul longeth after(Thee)Him. I remember you telling me that was your favorite song and it brought tears to my eyes as it is also mine. But after reading your story it brings so much more to the world because had it not been for your trust in Him and Him being your ONE DESIRE who knows what may have happened. Hopefully you have received the personal note I sent C/O of Barb, but just now getting the chance to respond on your site. I waited ever so anxiously for your book to arrive and when it finally came I could not put it down! I read it in two days and had to fight off my husband trying to nab it from me to read for hisself. As you may/may not remember, he was raised LDS, yet NEVER was told of the so-called "old" polygamist ways until he met me at age 20 and then thought I was lying to him! Then his mother tried to reassure him that those things no longer happened. HA! Luckily, he has come to learn for hisself and denounce LDS. You know I love you anyway, but your book is s

I just finished your book. I had to put my life on hold for the three days it took me to read it. I loved it! It is kind of funny when we realize all the time we have spent waiting on God, he is really, just waiting on us.

Dear Irene, I hope you get a chance to see this. I have been reading your book over the past few days. A co-worker handed it to me just before Christmas. She thought I'd be interested, knowing I'd been raised in polygamy. I didn't recognize your name, but within the first few pages, I knew we were connected! You see I was married to Donna's oldest son, Seth for 19 years! I have loved reading your story - your deep honesty in the struggles to live what you thought was truth. I haven't finished the book yet, but this morning I found a video from the 700 Club of you giving your testimony. As soon as they said your son had become a Christian, I knew what would happen next and I just cried praises to the Lord!! You probably get thousands of inquiries about your life and your book and I understand if you can't reply. But I would love to hear from you! I don't know how closely you stay in touch with the family, but Donna recently remarried. She sends me card from time to time and emails me occasionally. If we don't co
