Comments I was going through my cellphone contacts and came across Sheena's phone number -- and rather than breaking down into a giant puddle I wanted to come here and say what I need to say. I met Sheena in my second year of college. I adored her - we were very close friends and I was quite frankly in love with her -- we were never a couple but more like platonic soulmates. Sheena and I had many many adventures together in college. I will never forget the time that she pierced my ear with a straight pin over a bottle of tequila - I will never forget the time that we spent in NYC in the Village, screaming and running on the subway platforms - I will never forget her performance as Jill on stage in Equus - I will never forget her indefatigable spirit and how much she means to me and how I wish that I never lost touch with her in all those intervening years. Once they get in there, tell them to bottle a sample of your brain that we could clone, market and all make millions. You are one of the neatest people I know and quite an inspiration to us all. You are handling this BS with such grace and courage while still maintaining that wonderful sense of humor you share so well with anybody that crosses your path. Comments Tony Snow lost his battle with colon cancer yesterday, and although I know that politically he wasn't on our team, he was brave and fought his battle fiercely, just as Sheena did. I only hope that his death will promote even more publicity and therefore research money going into this awful disease that takes the lives of such amazing people. Miss you Sheena!! Comments It's hard to believe you left us one week ago today...at least three times in the last few days I've picked up the phone to call you and then I remember you're gone, but you will never be forgotten. Clancey and I did the dogswalk for cancer event here in NYC today, I placed your memorial card on his bandana as we walked in your honor. Comments Karen, Lynn, Nancy, Bern, Katie and I all celebrated your birthday at Backstreets on Sat night, the hardest part was remebering how vibrant you were just one year ago. Many great Sheena stories were told, my fave being when Nancy said her most exciting night in years was when the big fight broke out the night we were there when you were bartending and you actually came out from behind the bar to try to break it up and I literally boxed you out, terrified that they would hurt you and cause irreprable damage, and then they pepper sprayed the whole place and we laughed our asses off!! Pat bought a round in your honor and there were many "Cheers to Sheena!" We love you and miss you, hope you had a great bday in Heaven, in my mind you were up there having a blast with Heath Ledger!! Comments Hi Sheena, I'm gonna do it this weekend! I'm turning the big 40 and I'm doing my first athletic event of my life. I'm cycling the 100-Mile Seagull Century on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Since you inspired me to do this, me and my fellow cyclers will be wearing your initials "SM" on the front of our jerseys. (see Brad's blog for a photo of the shirt... http://bradmacomber.blogspot.com/) I've also raised over $1300.00 for the American Cancer Society so far through an online donation tool (http://main.acsevents.org/goto/Sheena) Thank you Sheena for giving me the strength to do this!
