Comments After doing my time in Glasgow from Dec 61 to July 65 and returning home to Seattle, Wa, for a couple of years I bumped into guys who I had served with, who had obtained work with Boeing. Since that time I have lived in various cities and just lost contact with these old friends. About two years ago, my wife and I took a trip back to see Mt. Rushmore and on the way and I wanted to stop in and see if anything still remained on the air base at Glassgow. I still think that I have a pretty good memory of this time in my life, but I was very disappointed to see the condition of the base or what is actually left of it today. One of my first memories of arriving on the base in Dec 61 was seeing, what I thought at the time were hitching posts in the parking lot, only to find out later that they were plug ins for the head bolt heater for the cars. I started out in the A&E section as a records clerk and finished up in the Orderly room. Hope to hear from other guys I may have served with during this time.

Comments Hi Everyone! Thanks a million for this site! Our family were at GAFB from 64-66 while I was in 2nd & 4th grades at North Star and my brother Mike went into town for Jr High! We lived on Walnut Court across from Col. Hedlund who we all thought was a hero of some kind, they were great people. Dad (Lt.Col. L.E. Williams) went TDY to Guam in between and we went to Lewiston ID for the duration! Great memories from the base, no racial issues, firecrackers, buffalo, baseball, ice skating, Fort Peck (remember that crappy pond they passed off as a pool?? rough sloping banks and filled with moss?!?!?) judo & bowling in the winter time! We saw 'That Darned Cat' and a number of other Disney films at the base theater too! I don't know if anyone else remembers riding their bikes behind the DDT foggers they pulled thru the streets?!?! It's amazing any of us are alive at all!!!! Anyway, thanks again for sharing these great pics!!!

Comments Enlisted Aug 12 '63 in Louisville,KY (now live just across river). Ended up in Glasgow MG-13 shop in May '64 and "got to stay there" until 11 Aug '67 discharge. Mostly worked in the mock up shop, but did some tape reviews in debrief room, some flight line work (those winters were just great!),and augmentee weapons loader. Bought Tsgt Jordan Heartso's 1964 650cc BSA motorcycle after his wife made him sell it (only had 700 miles on it and still showroom pretty - Candy Apple Red and Chrome). I remember riding with a fellow black bull that had a Norton (I think) but I can't remember his name. We also rode with the SSGT over the chow hall that had a repair shop in town. And who did I ride with on an improvised dirt track behind the shop next to RR tracks and where I dropped my bike for the first of several times?(I still ride it today and belong to a british bike club). And does anyone remember buying an old 50's Studebaker while we were at Tyndal for Will Tell and then we just abandoned it when we left? Hope to see many at RU-5!

Comments My dad Msgt David E Taylor was at Sioux City from '57-'59, then at Glasgow from '59-'64. From there we went to the Goose. To make along story short, he retired as a SMsgt after 30 years of service. For those of you who knew him, he passed away quietly on August 26,2008. It's hard to find friends and co-workers when you are in the service; then I found this site and if you were at Glasgow with his VOODOO jets and were also a 'medicine man' I figure some of you must have known my dad.

Comments For our Lowery class connection...I found Francis "Frank" Glover in Simpsonville, S. Carolina...He remembers a certain "salt water" treatment that S.B. gave him while he was sleeping. If you don't remember the details I'll remind everybody later...It was extremely funny..

Comments My father, Knox, was stationed at Glascow with the 13th FIS from 66-67. I remember him and his friends coming back from hunting with rabbits, pheasants, grouse, deer and antelope and I remember camping and fishing on Ft. Peck and Nelson's Reservoir. We're trying to locate some of his old squadron mates. I recently spoke to Bobby and Judy Ming, who used to babysit me and my brothers. We've been in touch with "T.R." Rowland. Have been searching for Glenn and Eloise Daniels. Others that I can (vaguely) remember are Phillip? Bombough, George Libara and "Dudley".

Comments Hi; Just a "Heads Up" about the "Glasgow Memories" Links page to my photo albums: The base gate banner photo @ the top is ALSO a Link you can click on. This will take you to photos I took of the base during my 6/64-12/65 stay there. This is not an OBVIOUS Link & people may miss it. So there are a total of 9 album Links, not 8, on that page. Enjoy! - Ron S.

Comments We are looking forward to the reunion. Our sons, Jim Jr. and Matt are coming along as well. Jim and I have spent the past two years trying to finalize the 13th History. We will have copies available at for a minimal fee (cost to us to produce) at the reunion. Hope to see old friends and, like usual, meet new ones. Thanks to Bill and Susan in advance for all their hard work. We really appreciate it.

Comments Just wanted to thank Bill and Susan again for all their hard work. I also wanted to say how much our sons, ages 30 and 28, enjoyed the reunion. They were nervous about how they would fit in with everyone and have told us and their friends what a cool bunch of people they met. They had a great time, enjoyed all the stories and now believe their dad about the weather conditions. We are looking forward to the next reunion in Colorado.
