From one Bynum boy to another, may God bless you. I've lost track of so many childhood friends, and was glad from Juanita Pratt Schiele that you have a website. Thanks to you and your family for what you have done and are doing for our country. I look forward to reading the book.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm............... Geez, what can I say ? Dunno why I even clicked on the guest book, just read thru all the posted letters and viewed the pics, wish I could do the same. My daughter's always on my back for not talking about my experiences IN COUNTRY. It's just so difficult to do, people who have not experienced what we have, simply do not believe the stories we tell as they are just to difficult to believe. Unlike yourself, I served in an infantry battalion, though very lucky in placing myself with Company headquarters, thus minimising the times I went outside the wire. The mindless patrols outside every evening are something never forgotten, specially when the base receives incoming whilst we're outside. The endless hours spent as sentry duty on the MG and radio, the lack of sleep, the PLASTIC food, Urgh, I wish the guys who invented that were made to eat it for as long as we had to. Once the number of fatalities began to rise leaving vacancies in the platoons which were never filled quick enough, thus increasing

Wonderful site, Gary. I was in the Central Highlands, all of '67 as a helicopter door gunner with the 119th AHC (Gators). Best of luck to your son and all the other Iraq vets. And warmest regards to you!

Gary, it meant so much to me that you took off work and played Taps at my cousin, Donnie's memorial service, Someone else probably could have done it but it wouldn't have been the same. Thank you, my brother

I'm glad that there is such a thing as being able to be in two different countries, and still being able to keep in touch. =) By the way, if you wondering how I know english if I'm in Vietnam, it's because I was in the USA for about 5 years. =) (I lived in Vietnam, then in USA, then in Japan, and now in Vietnam again. ^.^ ) Love, Hong Yen

Thank you so much for opening your lives and sharing with us. I am a former solider of the 3AD (8 years) and a wife (18 years) of a career soldier currently serving in Iraq. I treasure each letter I receive and every email that is sent. I am thankful for your service and so appreciative of everything you and all the soldiers went through during Nam and only wish that we could have re-written history to where you were treated with dignity and respect upon your return to US shores. I have enjoyed reading each of your letters and even cried on a few. May God always bless you, Maxie and your son.

As I read some of your letters, I'm reminded of letters i received from my husband while he was in Iraq. Tears filled my eyes several times remembering the sorrow and pain I felt for my husband. It hurt to know my husband felt alone and I wasnt able to be there to hold him. I thank you for posting your letters!! Semper Fi!!

This is for my Dad, David James. He's never talked much about this time in his life but I do know he was a medic in the Navy during Vietnam. He is my hero.

I also have many letters sent to the US by my ex husband, Joseph Hurney, who was killed in Vietnam on January 16, 1969. I have thought about publishing them in some way.
